Orlando, FL Recs?

H and I are planning to go to Orlando, FL this December. It's one of our favorite places- We love going to Disney and Universal.  We've gone twice before together and stayed at the same hotel, but we're looking to try somewhere new this time.

Does anyone have any recomendations? We would like to keep it under $140 per night, and be relatively close to the parks. A heated pool would be great too since we'll be going in December, but that's not a necessity.

Also, any suggestions of things to do? We'll definitely be visiting the parks, but we'd like to do something different this time around too. Maybe see a show?

TIA!

Husband and I went to Orlando for our honeymoon. We stayed at the Caribe Royale, which isn't on the Disney property, and it $110 a night for us because of the military discount. Without the discount the price was about $120 a night for a deluxe suite with a jacuzzi. Nice outdoor pool with a waterfall, pool side bar and lots of different restaurants within the hotel. We enjoyed our stay but weren't at the hotel very much since we were doing the whole Disney, Epcot, Universal thing but it might be something to look into.

  • Have you ever stayed on property? I always have and have stayed at several different places. The value resorts are nice but average in my opinion. Last time I stayed at the Caribbean Beach Resort and I really liked it. I think when H and I go we may stay at the Coronado Springs Resort. I'm not sure on the price as it changes depending on season the value resorts I'm pretty sure are under your limit but not 100%.
  • have you gone to Seaworld?  I personally love Seaworld.  Sometimes you can get a hotel closer to Seaworld a little cheaper then near Disney.
