Uses for lavender?

My lavender is blooming like crazy this year :) I'm thinking of using it for bath salts, tea, and sachets. Is there anything else I do/make/or use lavender for?

Re: Uses for lavender?

  • Lavendar sugar- great for baking and iced tea.
  • Mine is going nuts too! How do you make the bath salts and sugar? Does the lavender need to be dried first?

Also, I like to just cut a bunch of it and stick it around the house in vases. It lasts a surprisingly long time and makes the room smell good!

  • There is a lavender grower on Maui who gives tours. In addition to their tours they also have a snack bar where they serve lavender scones with lavender tea. Being adventurous I decided to give it a try. I left Maui with several bags of lavender tea and have since ordered it online because it is so delightful. Thought you might want to try this recipe:

    Lavender Tea Recipe

1 teaspoon dried lavender flowers (English lavender)
    1 tablespoon English Breakfast tea
a dash of fresh lemon - optional
sugar or honey to taste - optional

To prepare, pour two cups of boiling water over the tea leaves and lavender and allow to steep for five to ten minutes.
