Restaurant week

Providence's restaurant week runs through Satruday.

Anybody go anywhere good? Or planning to go before it's over? We did 2 last weekend (first planned, second was after we didn't get to the grocery store as planned before dinner time).

Friday was our daycare's "date night" so we didn't have DS with us, and went to Ruth's Chris steakhouse. It was sadly not even worth the special price. The appetizers were fine, steak was good, but the side dishes were gross. We won't be going back.

Saturday we went to Fire+Ice, since I love that place and they had a 2-for-$30 special that also came with an app and dessert nachos. App was ok (veggie quesadilla that DS ate most of), the usual buffet of foods that we each did twice, and the dessert nachos were surprisingly good.

I have never done Restaurant week.  I often look at the website & all of the places participating.  I vow to go, but always end up forgetting!  I thought Luxe Burger had a decent menu from what I remember.  Yum, I love it there!

I'm curious - what do they put on dessert nachos?

  • I went to Capitol Grill and it was good.  I had never been before and compared to the prices on their regular menu definitley worth it.

The chips had a little cinnamon and cocoa powder on them instead of salt. They were drizzled with raspberry sauce and had a scoop of vanilla ice cream and whipped cream on top. Tasted much better than they sound!

We usually go there for our anniversary as a special treat instead of doing gifts. Food is usually good and I love their creamed corn! Definitely a good deal for restaurant week. We wanted to try Ruth's Chris since we heard it was the same caliber food and with better views, but we ended up wishing we went back to Capital!

We haven't taken advantage of the local Restaurant Weeks. Really hope to someday! Sounds like a great way to check out new places!
