photography ideas

Hey everyone! So our 2nd wedding anniversary is coming up at the end of august. I have the idea of doing a photo shoot and surprise hubby. Im thinking boudoir/pinup/fairytale.. if that makes any sense? I really like the idea of boudoir mixed with fairytale, and also like pinup, it just looks cool.I know that when I meet with a photographer, they will probably have ideas but i would like to go in with additional ideas.. so do any of you lovely ladies have some ideas? props, clothing etc.?I look forward to your feedback!

Re: photography ideas

  • honestly I think the best way to get ideas and to know what you are getting is to just start researching photographers in your area. Especially for a boudoir shoot I know I would want the photographer to be experienced and able to direct me and not me have to try and explain my ideas and then not know if they look good when its me, and not some girl in pictures I grabbed off the internet.

Having said that....I usually just google image keywords when I am looking for any specific type of photography.

  • I do a little modeling when I need money, and my big advice is to check out any photog's work if you are thinking of working with them. The right photographer will have a wide range of photoshoot ideas, and that will show in their portfolio samples. You should definitely have some ideas, but your photographer should know what to do with you based on your strengths and weaknesses. If the photographer completely relies on you for photo ideas, they're not the right person to work with. A great photographer will produce images that are beautiful, fit your personality, and showcase your strenghts and not your weaknesses! Choose one that has a style you like, and check out as many pictures of theirs as you can. When you contact them, they should be able to discuss ideas with you before the shoot, like themes, costumes, poses that you like, etc.

That said, there are so many different things you can do. You could go with a theme and choose your clothing based on that. If you're going to do a fairytale theme, you could get lingerie that matches that, like a sexy red riding hood or something, I don't know. :) Depending on what you pay for, you should get a certain number of outfits or settings to work with, so bring as many things as are allowed. If you get comfortable with it, you'll have a great time!
