The latest in baby monitor technology

Ok, I admit that I'm addicted to my video monitor.  I have 3 cameras attached to it.  It's awesome and I can't walk around my house without it.  It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside that I get to watch my babies sleep.

BUT

Man am I jealous that BRU will soon carry a monitor (Summer Infant, of course) that has technology that will allow you to view your child via a secure website from anywhere (work, etc.), and as if that weren't enough, there is also a free smartphone ap that will let you view your baby from your phone on the iphone/ipad, tablet and android markets.  Seriously?!  I want this.  Just think of what your hubbies could see while they are at work.  And you could check on your babies all day long at work.

Cost...  A cool $350 and I'm sure that's just for one camera and the monitor.  I don't know if you could add additional cameras.

  • I have zero interest in watching my kid while at work.... I admit. but I am sometimes curious about what the dogs are up to when we don't crate them Embarrassed

I assume that Gracie sleeps at least 95% of the day, but I am very curious about what she does the remaining 5% (she's not crated)

  • You girls crack me up.  Here's a funny story...  When we first got Layla, she was a tiny puppy and I was really upset leaving her everyday when we went to work.  She wasn't housebroken yet, so we kept her gated in the kitchen with her crate for her to sleep in.  I couldn't do the whole crate thing the correct way 'cause Layla just hated it and I caved.  Anyway...  Hubby and I totally set up the video camera one day and it recorded for 3 hours (the length of the tape).  We were so excited to get home and watch it to see what she did all day long.  We popped that thing into the tv and watch 15 minutes of her sniffing around the kitchen, playing with her toys, taking a drink, and then laying down in the crate...where she stayed for the entire rest of the film.  We fast forwarded through the tape and she literally only moved to breathe.  :)  Made me feel much better the next day when I went to work. LMAO
  • You definitely don't need to get the baby specific (ie more expensive bc it's sold at BRU) by Summer.  Costco has one and there are several others out there with way better features, multiple cameras, security, etc or at a cheaper price.  DH used one from work so I could watch Crosby at work and like your dog, all she did was sleep on the couch.  We hated monitors for B so never thought to get the camera set up back.

  • Not something I would ever spend the money on. I have zero need to spy on my children.

  • If it didn't cost so much I would buy one and hide the camera in my livingroom so I could see what my sitter does while I'm not here.
