For those who asked about Morgan's pier

I think it was just okay. I mean the highlight is the view and being outdoors. I went sans kid which was nice i just picture pulling him down from climbing the fence to the water. They did have a kids play structure so that was nice. The service was okay. Wherever you sit you have a server. The drinks were moderately price. I don't know I just wasn't blown out of the water?

Re: For those who asked about Morgan's pier

  • I feel the same way.

It's nice to sit outside by the water, and drink a few beers that aren't super over priced in the city.  The food menu is especially cheap, with nothing priced over $10.  Think basic backyard fare served on Martin's potato rolls.  They have a dollar dog cart and taco cart, too. The corn crab fritters are amazing.

The service is terrible.  Everyone is nice enough, but they have yet to get our orders right.  Even though we specifically request that the apps come out first, everything is brought out at one.  Special requests, like no mustard or with a side on vinegar, are completely disregarded.

We'll go back to hang out on a Sunday afternoon, but it's not someplace we would go to for dinner.

  • My kid was scaling the damn walls.  But yes, the play structure is nice.  And there were a bijillion kids there on a Sunday afternoon.  Apparently the entertainment is kid friendly on Sunday afternoons, and your kids don't have to pay the $5 cover (say, whaaaa?).

Also, I am sort of pissed at them because despite the fact they clearly have a play structure and high chairs (which are those clip on thingies and they don't fit on every table), the server told us there was no kids menu.

Until we were leaving and I saw a damn kids menu on the hostess stand.

  • I don't think they are looking to be known for their good food; it's drunk food at it's best. But I like the set up, the location and the prices. I've been twice now, once on a weekday evening for happy hour and once at night. At night they get live bands and DJs which is great. I'd probably think about it differently if I had kids but I like it a lot for going out and drinking with friends. Stick out tongue

Again I went without kid and didn't think it was awesome sauce. the service was fine. I don't know I still prefer many other hipster joints.

  • They hype up their "foodie" backyard grub, and with the way the menu is written, I guess we were expecting more.  The foods not bad, but it's nothing to get excited about (except for the corn crib fritters - AMAZING!).

Parking can be a bit of an issue too.  The meters are the old-school coin variety, so make sure you bring change.  You could always pay for parking at D&B's.

Again, I don't mind Morgan's Pier, and I'm sure I'll be back.  It's just not somewhere I'd go out of my way for.

  • DH nailed it.  It is fine, but at the end of the day it is still on Delaware Avenue.

It could very well be this generation's Maui (RIP).

See, I was partial to Baja on 17-21 nights in the standard teenage girl uniform of black pants, a tank top and foam chunky shoes.  Memories...
