How bad would it be...

...if I don't clean before H's family comes to visit for the weekend?

I have been nannying all week at my house because the kids' parents are in the middle of moving and its just easier, but my whole house is a disater zone now. Which was going to be fine, I don't have the kids tomorrow so I could clean tonight and tomorrow since they dont get in till tomorrow evening....

But then I woke up with the flu today and all I want to do is sleep! I have the kids today (they are napping right now thank goodness) because other arrangments couldnt be made, but now with watching them all day, feeling sick, and zero energy, I dont really feel like I am going to be able to get the house back in order before tomorrow, let alone all the bathrooms cleaned, vaccuming and mopping done, cleaning the kitchen and setting up the guest room.

I guess I'll have to see how I feel tomorrow...but would it be really bad if I just slept tomorrow instead of cleaning?

  • I don't think you have to like realllllllly scrub it but I am the wrong person to ask. I always get so nervous and embarrassed and I scrub everything! It's terrible.

  • I had a similar problem last time the IL's came to visit. It was last minute so I had no time to clean!! I ended up just making sure everything looked clean even though our apartment was still a little cluttered. OH WELL!

I would just do whatever you feel up to. You're sick, they should understand.

  • Dump the clutter into a laundry basket, shove in closet and run the sweeper.  Nobody will notice.  Swipe clorox wipe around toilet and bathroom sink, smells fresh and clean.  You'll be done under a half and hour.

i like this approach, do as little as possible but it still looks nice.

hope you feel better before they show up!

  • thanks ladies...

"Dump the clutter into a laundry basket, shove in closet and run the sweeper. Nobody will notice. Swipe clorox wipe around toilet and bathroom sink, smells fresh and clean. You'll be done under a half and hour. " <- I might even be able to convince hubby to do that tonight!

I hope I feel better too! What an inconvient time to get sick, its my H's birthmom and her family and  they live a few hours away and with 2 teenage girls, so I really would like to be wanting to do stuff with them while they are here since we don't see them much!
