DSLR cameras

I know we've discussed this before, but we're looking into getting a DSLR.  Those of you who have one, which one do you have, and pros/cons?

We are really just wanting something fairly basic since we have no idea what we're doing :)

Re: DSLR cameras

  • I have a canon rebel ( the cheapest one) and also I bought a 50 mm lense which makes it super easy to get great pics of Brin without flash.

  • We got a Canon t3i Rebel as our Christmas present to each other. It's so easy to use and takes beautiful pictures. We're anxious to take it to Europe with us for vacation.

My only con is that it's super big and heavy. I guess if that's the only con, it's pretty good. DH researched for months before we got the camera and we've been reading blogs and the manual to practice and get better with all of the different settings on the camera.

Whatever you decide to get, make sure you really learn how to use it. It's the easiest way to get really nice pictures.

  • Another Rebel owner here. We love it!!

  • We have a NIkkon D40 and I really like it.

  • Also a rebel owner here, but I want to upgrade to a 7D within the next year for better image quality, MP and more features. The rebel is awesome for when you're starting out though.

  • Sony a33 for us. We wanted the LCD speed to be the same as the viewfinder and it was the only one that worked for us.

Con-I haven't had time to really play with it in ages...boohoo

  • A DSLR is going to be my anniversary/birthday/push present since all 3 things fall within a short time, plus we are hating our cheap p&s right now, every time we go to use T's Nikon he whines that the quality stinks, and my Casio isn't much better, plus they are both old. We are looking at the Cannon Rebel T2i since I know it's a popular choice around here and I played with Krissy's some when we went to CT last year. I haven't really researched many though, or the other options...

  • Another Rebel here :) We bought the T2i to take on the trip and we've been really happy.  I had an old Canon film SLR so I just stuck with the lenses I had from that years ago.
We're currently on a 15 month trip around the world!
