Edgar finally said YES!

To cding that is.  :) I have always wanted to just try cloth diapering to see if it was something that could/would work for our family.  He had a change of heart this weekend (maybe because he realizes that #2 will probably come sooner rather than later and we were talking about finances).  We went to a cloth diapering store today to talk to someone and purchased 4 to start with and try.  There is a cloth diapering 101 class on Saturday that we  will go to before Lucas' swim  lesson.  I am so excited and they are already through the wash and in the dryer so I can prep them to start tomorrow.  Lucas is going to look so cute!

  • Yay!

We'll have to get Edgar to talk to Mark when we finally have kids. He's going to be a hard one to win over too.

  • Yay!! I have all my NB stash prepped and ready to go, and T finally hung up a clothes line for me in my laundry room in the basement, so this week I'm going to prep the 14 OS pockets I have accumulated. So far, for 2 dz GMD NB prefolds, 5 Thirsties Duo Sz 1 wraps, 5 KL0s, 2 RaR OS pockets, 10 BG 4.0 OS pockets, 2 Sunbaby pockets, 2 Kangacare pail liners, 2 wet bags for the diaper bag, 2 Snappis, 40 baby wash cloths for wipes, a spray bottle, and a jar of EMAB Bottom Balm I've spent just around $400.

I figure I will probably need a few more OS pockets once we get to that point and probably a diaper sprayer, but should clock in right around $500 for my entire stash plus all the accessories. Given the cost of disposables that I've seen at Target, and even now with Amazon Mom and their stupid having to pay for Prime thing, I think we'll come out way ahead in the long run!

  • Thanks girls! I'm so excited.  They are at home and ready to go.  I should have just bit the bullet and tried them this morning and while I was at work, but I didn't.  I watched a cloth diapering 101 video on youtube last night and it calmed my nerves a whole lot!  I'm so proud of Edgar for changing his mind.  I only got 2 bg (one aplix/one snaps) 1 go green, and 1 fuzzibunz.  I'll try them out and see which style I/Lucas ends up liking.

  • I never convinced dan to use cloth but i still used them. Dan only changes like 4 diapers a week since i am home all day with eli. I just kept a few disposables on hand for dan he would take cloth off and put disposable on.

  • Luckily Edgar is fully on board.  Last night he changed his first one (and put it on backwards! lol) and said "this wasn't as bad as I was thinking."  He has been in cd's all day so far and I've only had to change him twice.  It's great!

  • Seriously you only changed him twice? CDs need to be changed more often then DD. If you keep them on to long he will end up with ammonia burn.

Well, well, well, look what the cat DRAGGED in.

Considering it was only 1 pm and he woke up at 9, yes, I had only changed him twice at that time.  I do not need parenting advice from you, thanks though.

Edited to fix the mistake pointed at by none other than the queen of all parenting herself, Ashlee!

You're correcting Laura's grammar when you have a blaring grammatical error in your post?! It's TOO, not TO...

  • How can one be an extended breastfeeder prior to your children turning two? The WHO (that is the World Health Organization) recommends breastfeeding (if possible) until at least age two. I am still breastfeeding, but consider it within the guidelines and recommendations (17 months). Now, those women still going at age 6 -- that is extended.
