gift ideas

We are going to our friends' daughter's baptism on Sunday.  DH and I are not religious (at all) so I don't want to buy her something too "religiousy," I would feel like a hypocrite.  Yet, I know this is a milestone for the baby and her parents so I want to acknowledge it with more than a card.   Any ideas on what to get for her?  She is 6 months old.

TIA.

Re: gift ideas

  • a cute piggy bank that says college fund or a savings bond? your favorite children's book? I also saw a suggestion of a share or two of stock in a company like Mattel, Disney, etc.

  • How old is the girl? Catholic baptism or other christian? Some baptise as a baby, some as pre-teens, others whenever they feel ready....that would make a difference in what you get.

My half-sisters confirmation (at age 12), we got her a willow tree angel and a book of advice for young ladies...

    what about something like this:

THe brand is willow tree, most christian bookstores carry tons of willowtree figurines, or I'm sure you can find lots online...theres tons of different ones!

  • oops I missed the age in your orginal post somehow sorry!!!

I still think a willow tree angel might work :)

  • I usually do a piggy bank with a $50 or $100 bill, depending on how close I am to the child. You could do more or less depending on what you had in mind.
  • I always just give money for the "college" fund...depending on how close we are to the family is the amount we give.
