So I go back to work August 29th for the first time in 1 full year. When I left on maternity leave they hired a lady back who my position actually used to be hers with another interim person in between us. I guess we must have needed more staff because even though I'm coming back she is staying on. I think maybe part time.
Ever since I knew I was leaving I've been worried about losing all my "stuff" when I come back. I had to fight to get the classroom I have and it works perfectly for my odd combination of teaching Biology and Physics. I have over the years built up lots of resources like pencil crayons, glue sticks, etc, good speakers for my computer and so on. I haven't personally paid for these items, the school pays for them but it's like pulling teeth to get them and I make sure to take very good care of things.
So I told myself not to stress too much about getting my classroom back, if I don't get it I'll survive. Thankfully I got the ok from my VP that I am back in that same classroom. I emailed the lady who was in there last year because her stuff is literally EVERYWHERE in there. I'm a super Type A and NEED to get in there to get things organized well before the school year starts. Well she sends me this big email back about how she was hoping to stay in that room because it works well for her needs, etc, etc. She hasn't heard otherwise so she won't be moving her stuff until she knows where she is going, which is fair enough. Then I also notice that my teacher desk, which I've moved from 2 other classrooms with me, was "snatched" by the teacher in the room next to mine.
I'm already stressed about going back just because of M and her situation. And now all these things are stressing me more. Plus I'm teaching a class that I haven't taught since my first year of teaching. I don't want to be a huge PITA and piss of the vice principal by emailing him again and again about the classroom and office and stuff, but I just want to be able to start getting things organized!
Re: Can I just have a big huge vent about work
Definitely this. And even if she doesn't know specifically where she is going yet, she should have to box up her stuff and store it somewhere so that you can get in there. She knows she's not staying in your room. That is really annoying. Sorry! I hope they can figure something out for you.
Thanks guys. I sent the desk stealer an email because we have a good relationship and joke around lots so made the subject "Thief!" and then said he didn't think he was going to get away with that did he??? haha
I think maybe I will email the other teacher, forwarding the email I got from the VP saying that I will be in that room and telling her maybe she should email him to find out where she will be going. That way I don't have to "bug" him again and hopefully she can get her crap outta my space!
And there is literally "stuff" everywhere in there.
