Re: Riviera Maya

  • Where did you stay? In Tulum at Posada Luna del SurWhat did you do? There are so many things to see and do in this area of Mexico. I enjoyed the ruins of Coba and Chichen Itza, horseback riding on the beach, cave tour through Rio Secreto, a tour of Sian Ka'an Biosphere Reserve through Cesiak, and a tour with a spider monkey sanctuary at The Jungle Place. And of course we spent some time at the beautiful beaches!Would you do it again? Absolutely! In fact, we are going back in November for our destination wedding in Playa del Carmen at Riu Palace Rivieria Maya.
  • Are you looking for kid friendly or not?
Friday, December 28 2012. The day I had emergency appendix surgery in Mexico and quit smoking. Proof that everything has a good side!! DH and I are happily child-free!! No due date or toddler tickers here!! my read shelf:
Alison's book recommendations, favorite quotes, book clubs, book trivia, book lists (read shelf)
    1. Where did you stay? Tulum- Cabanas Tulum, PDC- La Tortuga and Playa Maya (all boutique hotels, no resorts)
    2. What did you do? Ruins at Coba, Tulum, Chichen Itza, haven't been to any cenotes yet but really want to do next time. Took the ferry to Cozumel and rented scooters and rode around the whole island.
    3. Would you do it again? Absolutely. We would have gone this year again but my mom has lung cancer and not much time left so any vacation we are spending with her.
  • 1. Valentin Imperial Maya

    2. Other than relaxing at the resort and indulging in cocktails, we did a day long excursion with EdVenture Tours that was awesome! We visited Tulum, went ziplining, snorkeled in two cenotes, and then ended with snorkeling at a lagoon.

    3. I'd go back, but would probably stay at another resort. I like to check things out and would want a comparison.

  • Where did you stay?  The Royal Haciendas (www.royalresorts.com/the-royal-haciendas.asp) - loved it, stayed in a huge 2-bdrm oceanview villa, amazing infinity pool, beautiful beach, and only 10 min. from Playa (free shuttle there).

What did you do?  Lots! Went to Xel-Ha and Xcaret eco parks, so fun! Did a tour of Tulum and Coba ruins, took the ferry over to Cozumel, went to Playa del Carmen a few times to eat out, shop and just walk around. Drove to Cancun, spent a day there, and took the ferry across to Isla Mujeres.

Would you do it again?  For sure!!

Just celebrated 6 blessed wedded years! 9.24.06

Doesn't make a difference. We are not bringing our children, though.

  • 1. Azul Sensatori

    2. Snorkeled, zip lined, went into the city of shop...ate and relaxed!

    3. My husband would love to go back, I would but there are other places on my list before I jumped back on a plane to Maya

  • 1.  Iberostar Grande (Adults only)

    2.  We mainly just relaxed and hung out at the resort.  We did go into Playa del Carmen to shop, walk around, watch football, etc.

    3.  In a heart beat.  That resort was absolutely amazing and worth every penny.

  • 1. Three places: an eco-hotel near Tulum; a condo in Half Moon Bay, near Akumal; and Grand Palladuim AI, also near Akumal.

    2. Mostly, snorkeled - in all of these places, plus Yal-Ku Lagoon, Cozumel and Dos Ojos cenote. Also, saw Mayan ruins in Tulum and Cozumel.

    3. Would go back to Half Moon Bay in a heartbeat; Tulum is a close second; but I don't think I'm ever going to another AI!
