Recommendations - Ballet, dance, gymnastics

I'm in Warwick, but willing to travel.  The girls have decided that they would be "totally awesome at being dancers" (their words) and I guess ballerinas have to be able to flip.  So there's that.  I'm mostly concerned about being able to see them during their lessons.  My oldest has a fear I will leave during and be late to pick her up.  Have any of you had children in these type of lessons that you liked?  Or any to steer clear of?

 Thanks!

I myself haven't signed up DD2 for dance yet, but my nieces (ages 3 and 9) took dance at To The Pointe on Oaklawn Ave in Cranston, and they loved it (recently moved to TN which is why they won't be back).

My other niece took a few classes this past year at Carolyn Dutra in Warwick.  I went to Carolyn Dutra in Cranston when I was little and I had a great experience there, too - but that was a reallllly long time ago.  I am told that Carolyn is still looking great and teaches classes!

    Good luck!

My only experience is my own, from more than 20 years ago... but I went to Warwick Dance & Gymnastics. It looks like they still do the same combo course - half hour of ballet and half hour of gymnastics. I have no idea if the facilities and teachers are still good, but I liked it when I did it! I can't remember if parents sat in on the ballet class, but there was room to watch during the gymnastics part and a seating area right outside the ballet room at the time.

Anyway, no real help other than maybe to check the place out! It's right next to Thayer Arena and McDermott pool in Warwick.

My kids go where I spent 12 years as a child. Ocean State School of Gymnastics (OSSG) in Lincoln. We drive a half hour for to get them to their classes. Kyle is little (2yo), so it's still a parent-participation class. Independent classes start at 3yo. I am in the gym with Kyle during Shannon's class (yay for silmultaneous classes!) But, there are bleachers and the kids in the gym can see out at the spectators. They've been going for about 9 months so far, and both love it.

  • My niece does dance with Denise's in Johnston (where I went too!), and a friend's daughter does ballet at Bellani. Gymnastics my niece was at OSSG too.

I danced at Carolyn Dutra for 10 years so when the time comes, we'll more than likely head there.
