Ladies near Irwin (ETA: or ppl who go to a lot of kids parties)
I know there are a few others...
Does anyone know of a good place for a kid's birthday party? Good and inexpensive is even better! I haven't had a friend party for L since her 1st bday, but since it's her 5th and we've gone to so many the past few years for her friends, I think it might be time to do something with other kids this year. Her bday is a week after we move though, so our house is not an option!
Re: Ladies near Irwin (ETA: or ppl who go to a lot of kids parties)
SeaBase is probably too far for a lot of our guests (although that could keep the list down)!
I thought about Conley b/c she loves to swim... how gross is the pool there? Is the area where you set up food and stuff in decent shape? I remember it was sort of run down when I was a kid, and I know the exterior hasn't changed much!
Also, if anyone has seen anything particularly fun at a bday party just at a hall or even a house I'd be open for those kinds of suggestions too. Like, the one we went to had a face painter and the kids loved that!
I'm thinking that may be the way we have to go as I start to really work out the guest list. If we need to invite 46 kids, a Sea Base/Chuck E. Cheese type place is not going to work.
OMG! 46 kids!?! I think we invited 10 from school (everyone in the class since it was small at the time) and 6 other friends. We had a total of 10 I think come. Held it at Snapology, which is a lego play space in the south hills. The party was only 2 hours long which was enough to play for an hour with some scheduled activities. Then they had cupcakes and drinks, and we opened gifts. Since they were done early with that they were allowed to have some more free play time. It was really the perfect length.
We were at a picnic type birthday at south park and they had a face painter which was a big hit and just some outside toys around for the kids to play with. It worked out well too. A magician might be fun, EJ just had one visit her school and made balloon animals which were a big hit.
We were at a build a bear party which was a huge hit with the 4 year olds in attendance. and another party at a local gymnastics gymnasium where they did a short tumbling class and we had cake/cookies. Again, both were just a couple hours long.
K's family owns a restaurant out in Irwin we have had a lot of family events in their private room. it is called KVays, but I am not sure how convenient it would be to you. obviously, they would provide the food. Which isn't anything fancy. But still good
)
Faith has been invited to both parties at Conley's and at Seabase!!
She has fun at both, but cost wise Seabase was a little better... Conleys is nice
With the slides and most families do 1- 1 1/2 he in pool then the last of the two hours in the back for cake, food and presents! If
We had extra $$ we'd do Conley's. If prices hasn't changed it's $10 for just swimming, then $12-$14 with food depending on your choices. Also remember they book swimming parties to start every half hour to make sure pool doesn't exceed 50 person capacity at once. If you want a more private time for your pool party book it for a weeknight or early day during weekend or a later time(like 6-630p start). Then it's a little easier if you have a decent amount of little ones! I you have any questions about Conleys feel free to send me a message or stop me at my mil's, I know a decent amount from working there 6 yrs
Forgot to add, I know Shafton rents out the hall for $50 with no beer! It goes up a little if you add alcohol for parents. It's a spacious hall and has a little stage for music and such! And Plenty of room i u get a face painter etc for them to have room! And The guys are fun to work with an giant eagle will deliver over the hill to there! And conleys eating space was redone when the slides were put in,but not super nice
We did steel city all - stars in plum for DD in jan. it's in Plum. Is that too far? Google & you will find website. It's $149 for 2.5 hours. You can get Fox's pizza at a discount delivered.
DD went to a party at giggles & smiles at monroeville mall last month. It's like sea base but smaller and cleaner. Kids had a blast. Not sure the cost. We went to a Halloween themed birthday at that monster golf across from the mall. It was neat but not sure many of the girls liked! Ha. They have a nice party room upstairs.
Different side of Irwin but you have the crafty shack by schramm's on Harrison city export rd. it's owned by a schramm's daughter!
Let me think where else.....
My next door neighbor just had her 6 year olds party at Build a Bear and said that it was a hit. 46 kids may be a lot though.
If you decide to go with a hall, Shirley's Funeral Home has a log cabin, with a social hall back behind the funeral home. It's really large and very nice. My cousin has had her daughter's party there a few times. One was a Little Mermaid theme and it was decorated so nice! They have a kitchen, really clean restrooms and the room is very large and L shaped. The L shape was nice because she had the pinata (sp?) and games set up for the kids over there which was out of the way of the main party.
Do any farms near you hold bday parties? Schoergels (I'm butchering that spelling but I'm too lazy to look it up) near my house does, I've always thought that would be a nice option, especially in the fall.
If there are any gymnastics places near you, we were at a party at Gymkhana a few months back, the kids had a blast.

Can you rent a pavillion at Indian Lake? (I think that's what it's called - that lake on Clay Pike).
We've also gone to a zumba birthday party (the place has since closed), so if you could find a dance studio that does that - all of the kids (boys and girls) had a ton of fun.
We did Gavin's 5th bday party at a bowling alley - is that an option? We paid around $12 per bowler (paid for only the kids) and then I was able to bring in my own food. The alley had a cosmic room too. The alley offered specific party times and we went with 1pm on a Saturday - we had the whole place to ourselves.
The kids bowled from 1-2p, we had food at 2, then present opening (the first time we did this at a party and OMG was it crazy), then cake, then more bowling if anyone wanted it.
Up by us everyone does Chuck E Cheese (the stomach bug took me down the next day), the local pool, and Fun Fore All, so I wanted something different. I think the parents appreciated it as they said it was the first time a lot of the kids went bowling. (Oh and the alley had the ramps for the kids and the bumpers up to make it more fun.)
I will suggest something someone told me afterwards, re: opening gifts. It might be a good idea to give every child a number and when their number is called, they come up and give the birthday child the gift to open. My poor son got so crowded by everyone. he ended up scooching back so much so that he was sitting under a table at one point! LOL
My three sons!
Thanks -- these are all great suggestions! I'm going to look into a lot of these.
I'm a little nervous about an outdoor party. Even though her bday is 9/7, it has been crappy every year (rain, cold or both)!
I'm just so limited by the number of kids!! I know not all would show up, but it's still going to be huge. It's hard b/c she has a couple of neighbor friends, and I'd want to invite her class (12 kids) b/c she sees them more than anyone. But, then we also have a lot of our own friends with kids (many of them with multiple kids) who have invited us to all of their parties every year, so we can't leave them out. Plus family. It just gets out of control, which is why we never had another party after her 1st bday. That was crazy, and we were among the first to have a baby in our groups of friends, so it's even worse 5 yrs later!
