New to TN, Old to TK

Hi girls, I just wanted to say hi.  Some of you might remember me from The Knot's October '11 board...I was once a regular and sort of faded out.  I'm Kristy and the screenname was the same...AutumnEnchantment (sometimes known as AE).  My husband and I got married October 8th but we've been a couple since March 17, 2002.  We have an eight year old (soon to be 9 year old next month!) son and we're trying hard to get our first house.

Just wanted to introduce myself and say that I'm glad to finally have noticed an October 2011 board here on TN!  I'm looking forward to getting to know some of you and reconnect with some of you I already knew from TK. =)

Re: New to TN, Old to TK

  • Welcome! I think all but one or two ladies here are from the TK group. Usually there's at least a few people around daily.

Any plans for the upcoming anniversary?

  • Hi AE! So nice to see you again.

Thats crazy the LO is almost 9. How exciting, It must feel great to be house hunting.

  • I'm really bad at thinking of gift ideas... We're not really planning anything much.  I did contact the woman that made the cake for our wedding to see if she could make a smaller one for our anniversary that mimicked ours, still waiting to hear back from her.  I also ordered this for the husband:

We have this ongoing thing where one of us will say "I love you," and the other says, "I love you more," which leads to the first saying, "No, I love you more..." and so on and so forth.  Then leading off to that I'm getting two of these:

I'm going to frame them and put dry erase markers next to them.  Periodically we can change what each one says for the other.  I thought it would be be fun to wake up to something new written into the blank.

What is everyone else doing for their anniversary?  And erollis, a cruise? Awesome!  Where to?

  • Yayyyyy welcome over here!

I love the dry-erase marker idea. It's really cute.

No idea what we're doing for the anniversary yet since we're moving to FL and we'll both have new jobs. Maybe we can do a short cruise or something since we no longer have to pay airfare to get to a state that cruises leave from :-P

  • Congrats on the new job!  What position do you hold now?

I will be a middle school band teacher :) I was working retail before that since I couldn't find any teaching jobs in PA.

  • Congrats!  Yeah, I had my teaching license in Ohio and Indiana but gave up.  I was a substitute teacher for four and a half years and that didn't get my anywhere.  Right now I work at a preschool/daycare but my patience for handling a large amount of four year olds has diminished.  I'm headed back to school next month to start a paralegal program.  Hopefully that takes me somewhere.

That's good you have a plan. I hated substituting. This was year 3 of searching for a job so I was going to give up after this summer and consider going back to school. I had no clue what to do instead though so I'm hoping this works out.

  • Thanks, its good to be back!

  • AE, the dry erase is super cute. Sounds like the you have the perfect low key anniversary planned. Hopefully the baker gets back to you soon. A fresh slice of cake would be so yummy.

Yup a cruise. It is a short one, on Royal Caribbean, since H has never been and that's all we could afford. We'll fly in to Miami, spend the night and cruise to Nassau, Key West and RCI's private Island and end it with another night in Miami. It was cheeper for us to go to Miami then cruise out of Galveston,Tx for what we wanted.

It's so nice to have ya back.

  • Erollis - have fun on your cruise!   I loved our cruise that we went on this past February!

  • Welcome back, AE! Good luck in the paralegal program too - sometimes I think that would've been a better investment over law school these days! :-)

  • Ah law school...I figure if I perhaps like the paralegal bid I might someday go for that.  We'll see where life takes me first.

  • Welcome AE!
  • Hi AE!  I saw your post on the Pgh TK board selling some things.  I was on my phone, though, and can't comment using my phone!  I was going to say "hi!" over there.

I was in OH this past weekend (we went to King's Island and a Reds game).  Not sure how close/far you are from Cincinnati!  I thought you were closer to Pgh...

  • Hmm, must have been someone else on that board selling stuff with a similar screenname?  Wasn't me anyway.

I live in central Ohio, just outside of Columbus.  Kings Island is about a two hour drive, not too bad...we go there often =)

You're right.  Don't mind me -- I am losing it!  It was HarvestKarma -- who was also an October Knottie.

King's Island was fun... it was a bummer to not be able to ride half the stuff, though!!  It felt like everything was a rollercoaster or something too spinny-crazy. We spent a ton of time in the water park.
