City Select or City mini

I know some of you have one or the other, trying to decide which one to get for T3. Price is not the issue since I am buying either one used from a friend. I am getting rid of our sit n stand and Maclaren is going to Grammy so this will be my only stroller. Tell me why you love what you have, thanks!

Re: City Select or City mini

  • Are they doubles? Does jd use a stroller still?
  • no sorry! single for Anna only.  We have a sit n stand now that I am selling on CL, JD is just about done with the stroller, he always wants to walk so I am tired of keeping the big stroller around. Plus I have a cheapo double jogger that I use for the beach and at the shore in case I ever need a double like for Disney possibly

  • City Select! I love it and I would buy it all over again. The City Mini was too small for what I wanted. You can't really fit anything into the bottom 'basket' of the City Mini. I can fit so much stuff in the bottom of the City Mini which is super convenient. We're bringing it to FL with us next week instead of the Chicco Liteway simply because I can put a lot of crap under there. I also like that you can change the position of the seat. Danica loves to face me instead of out and I like when she faces me as well so I can see what she's doing.

I know many people love the City Mini but for me it was too small for what I wanted. I also loved the Select because I like that you can purchase the extra seat for it and make it a double without it looking like one of those awful ugly double strollers. I know you don't need that option anymore, though. :) If you haven't already, take them both for a test drive at BBB.

  • I think it depends on what you are looking for.  Either smaller and more compact for storing/carrying/folding. Or larger with more features.

We have the City Mini and love it, it serves our purpose of small and easy to fold.  The bottom basket is small, but not nonexistent.  I can fit Emma's packed Vera Bradley diaper bag down in there and a few other small purchases.  I never really have a need for more storage than that.

  • We went back and forth between the select and the mini, especially considering this is our first stroller and we'd like to have more kids.  Ultimately we went with the CM because the CS felt like it had too big of a footprint to use for one kid.  Now, I haven't even taken it out of the box yet, but I drove it around the store and really liked it.  I got the GT version, though, which is probably not what you're buying since you're getting a used one and the GT just came out a few months ago.

  • We have the City Mini and really like it so far. The basket is definitely not ideal, but I can live with that. I love how easily it collapses, and it's not too heavy for me to lug around, which was really important for me. Of course, when I have kid #2, I may regret the decision, but for now it works.
  • I think it depends if you already have a jogger for the beach i might say the city mini for easier city living.
  • Is the City Select easy to fold?  This is my dream stroller for when we have our little one but since I am a teeny tiny thing, I would definetly need something easy to fold.  Everything will probably be heavy to me!

  • Ditto Lando on this one.

We have the CS. I might go with the Mini if I had to do it again but I know DH disagrees. The CS has a relatively easy fold but not as super easy as the CM. DH likes the CS for the bigger footprint because he's a bigger guy. The bigger footprint is annoying when trying to take it in and out of my trunk by myself. You have more options with the CS but if you don't need them, you might want the CM for convenience.

  • I have the CM but wish I had the CS. I think the CS is more versatile and I don't think the CM has enough room underneath. I have a hard time fitting mostly any diaper bag down there. Also, it is not helpful for if/when we have #2.

The good things about the CM though are that it's light and really easy to unfold and fold even when holding the kid.

Ditto this.  We love the CM.

We toyed with getting the CS so that we could add in the second seat but besides the ridiculous cost for all parts, I was worried we'd spend all that money and the eventual older child wouldn't even want to sit in it.

  • Thanks for all the feedback, I am probably going to go with the mini just based on the size of it. I just love the Select though and am envious every time I see someone pushing it, wish they had it back when JD was born!

  • Hey Kel, out of curiosity what's the asking price on the CS? What parts are available? I would be interested if she's looking to offload it. (And no, I don't have a use for double any time soon...)

  • She had someone else lined up if I didn't want it so I told her I wanted the mini and it sold for $300 this morning on CL. I will tell her if it falls through to let me know
