Help me! I've grown up sewing on a basic, non-computerized sewing machine. Since I've been married I've been doing my basic sewing on an old Singer we found in the landlord's basement (the ones that you flip up from under the table haha), and going to my mom's for anything that requires more than a forward/backward stitch. I've been sewing a lot of things for my LO lately, and now is the time for me to get my own machine.
I don't need anything fancy, I don't do many complicated things (although I would like to learn more). I would love the features that the computerized sewing machines offer, but the old fashioned side of me is nervous about them...I mean if the computer goes, the whole machine goes!
WDYT? Advice? Opinions? Recommendations?
Re: choosing a sewing machine
I'm havin the same problem
I posted the same question on the Knot, and there were a few replies:

I haven't researched much, but whenever I read the reviews of a singer (the newer ones) people complain about them. I think I'm going to go with a Brother.
See the FAQ link at the top of the board.
