Book/reading Question

I'm obviously an adult and I love to read, but I find myself reading a lot more YA books than adult books Is that weird? I get stuck in one type of book for a while and right now its fantasy types (like vampires/werewolves/magic/etc) and there is just a larger selection of easy reads in YA I find.

Re: Book/reading Question

  • I read a lot of YA books too. I like to blame the eighth graders I teach though, because they recommend a ton of books and as a result my to be read list has exploded.

  • I read some YA b/c my brother and sister are at that age and it gives us common ground and they are quick quick reads in between semesters and such.

If you are into fantasy, try the Sword of Truth series by Terry Goodkind. If you don't want to try a series, he also wrote three similar/series-related books called  The First Confessor (only out on ebook), The Law of Nines, and Debt of Bones. All good. So addicting. He aslo just started a second series/triology that begins with The Omen Machine, but that picks up the day after the Sword of Truth series ends, so hard to jump right in on that one.

  • I read a lot of YA books too.  I don't think there is anything wrong with this.  I do try to mix up what I read sometimes to not get stuck in a rut.

  • Not sure if any of you like to listen to YA audiobooks, but this website is giving 2 free audiobooks a week- one newer one and one older one. Resets each Thursday for the summer.

  • I say read what you want and what makes you happy. I haven't read any YA books lately.  Two years ago I read the Baby-sitters club prequel (when it came out.). I even ordered it on amazon in hardcover which I never do. My cousin told me while we were at he lake there was a new BSC book out and I told her I had already read it. She remembered what a fan I was.

When I was in college I read a lot of YA novels including some Judy Blume I read not read and many others. Leisure time is. It plentiful so read what makes you happy is my philosophy.
