I was in the ER this morning :(

So around 2:30 this morning I woke up with a severe abdominal pain that radiated around to my back. After about 30 minutes of no improvement with the pain getting worse I was starting to have issues breathing. I had DH call 911 and I went to the ER in the ambulance. Turns out I have gall stones and a UTI :( I have to go on a modified diet and meet with a surgeon to discuss the possibility of removing my gall bladder. This is so not what I need right now. Ugh. Has anyone experienced this or had their gall bladder removed?

  • I'm so sorry! Gall bladder attacks are ridiculously painful :( You were smart to go to the ER. I stupidly suffered through mine for awhile before going to the Dr. I was scared when I found out I needed surgery but the surgery and recovery was a breeze compared to the attacks. I was on a low fat (no fat really - I lost a stupid amount of weight) while waiting to have my surgery, but it helped in the short term. I have had no side effects after the removal although some are possible. Please feel free to message me if you have any questions at all!!

  • I'm so sorry! How scary!  It's very common to have gall bladder problems while pregnant or after having a baby.  My close friend had intense gall bladder pain when she was pregnant with her first child.   She had to go on a modified diet, and shortly after her daughter was born she had her gall bladder removed.  The surgery and recovery were very easy.

  • Oh man! How scary!!

My aunt had hers removed and like others said, she was on a low-fat diet coming up to the surgery. She said the surgery was easy. Her's was laproscopic  (sp) and recovery was not too bad.

  • Ugh! That's terrible. I hope you feel better soon.
  • I've had my gallbladder removed about 10 months after I had Annabelle. I was actually in the hospital for about a week (never go on a holiday weekend). If you want to talk just email me at jentim2006@yahoo.com

I hope you start to feel better soon.

  • Thanks ladies, feeling better today. Still trying to figure out what foods I can/can't eat I have an appointment on Monday to discuss surgery. I'm hoping to get it done before my maternity leave ends.

  • I'm so sorry! I hope your surgery and recovery go smoothly. My MIL had it done a few years ago and what they didn't really tell her was that she'd had to be careful about what she eats for the rest of her life. Spicy or very flavorful foods tend to upset her stomach easily.
