Not ready to get pregnant
Sometimes I feel like everyone around me is trying to get pregnant and wanting me to get pregnant. I'm not ready! I started using CrMS to avoid pregnancy and totally clueless, I hope I'm doing the right thing! Anyone out there using the model? or not trying to conceive?
Re: Not ready to get pregnant
The Babies Not on the Brain board is made up of people who are child-free and aren't conceiving yet and got frustrated with their pushy relatives/friends, so you can probably find good advice and like minds there. Though I haven't been on it in, wow, a couple years at least, so I could be wrong about who's there now.
I'm not conceiving, ever, but I use an IUD. I grew up Catholic, so I don't trust any fertility charting methods after watching everyone get pregnant. The little I've heard about the Creighton plan is good, though. At the very least I think it's great to be so in-tune with and knowledgeable about your body. And if you're okay with your odds of it happening eventually, then it's probably a great idea.
If you are "totally clueless" and "not ready" to be pregnant, then charting is just about the dumbest method to prevent pregnancy that you could be using.
Not saying that charting is dumb - but you need to KNOW what you're doing and how to use it, you need to be vigilant, and you need to accept that it might not work and you might become pregnant.
If you're adament about not wanting to be pregnant (and there's nothing wrong with that), get yourself on something that doesn't have such a huge user error rate. There are tons of birth control options available that will provide a "clueless", not ready for kids woman with a LOT more pregnancy prevention.
How old are you? 20? 22?
My H and I use condoms & FAM. It's been 3 years and I'm not pregnant.
Read Taking Charge of Your Fertility. It's a very informative book.
