15 Yoga classes! Ahh I'm nervous, I've never done yoga before, but there was an amazing deal on Groupon for 15 classes for $40. Its 2 miles from home, and they have classes at 6pm, and weekends too, so it should be totally doable.
Anyone have any tips? I have a yoga mat...but thats about it. Do I need anything else? Do I wear sneakers? Should I bring water?
Please help this yoga newbie!

I used to be a yoga freak...loved it, I got to get back into it.
Typically you dont wear any shoes...Water is needed.
Dont get upset if you cant do exactly what they teacher is doing...it usually takes awhile to get the poses.

Yoga is done barefoot, don't even think about bringing your phone in there, and don't be late!
The best advice I can give you is focus on yourself, don't peek around the room and don't be intimidated. Yoga is about finding your center and that's easy to do with even just a decent instructor if you keep to yourself. Don't be afraid to modify the pose to what's comfortable if it's too hard for you, do what's best for you.
I LOVE yoga, but seriously haven't done enough of it. Good luck!
i'd love to get into yoga seriously. i've done classes here and there and i always felt so good afterwards!
like other posters have said, it's done barefoot... i usually wear sandals when i go, easy to slip off. definitely bring water, and don't be intimidated. the teachers are usually really helpful and understanding and all they really want is for you to try, not to be perfect.
and usually the people in the class are really welcoming to newbs

I agree with everything everyone else has mentioned, but be sure to wear comfortable clothes! I had a much better yoga experience when wearing "yoga pants" as opposed to running shorts. I'm somewhat uncoordinated, and I would put catch my hands/arms on the baggy shorts or large shirts.

oh man, i forgot about that! one time i wore regular work out shorts and everytime i lifted my leg up i kept freaking out about what the person behind me might be able to see inside my shorts! lol

Welcome to the Yoga world.
Yoga should be done barefoot, wear yoga pants and a fitted tank style top, definitely bring water, trust in yourself to just let yourself go for the class. It is a wonderful hour. I can forget everything that is bothering me in that hour and just get centered again. I haven't been going lately as I'm more into training for a marathon I'm doing in a couple of weeks and I definitely miss it.
