Which Ergo model should we get?

My aunt has offered to buy us a baby carrier. She originally offered to get us a Bjorn, but we're borrowing (and loving) a Bjorn so thought about an Ergo as I've heard so many good things about it.

I don't know much about them, but she's asking which model Ergo we want and I really have no idea - any suggestions?

Thanks!!

Re: Which Ergo model should we get?

  • If you like facing out option then check out the pikkolo brand. If that's not important I think the organic ergo is nice we have the sport and some people don't like it I think it works fine.
  • I have the ergo and didn't love it since the kidlet couldn't face out at all. I have the sport version and it hits me higher up than the original ergo and is less comfortable. See if you can check some out from friends or the Nesting House because so much of it is based on your comfort and ease of getting the little one on and off.

  • We just have the original black one. We love it...I did borrow a friend's bjorn for a month or two, but it got too heavy. DS never really minded facing inward because he could still see from the sides. I used to carry him to/from daycare in it, and we've taken it on many trips.

  • We have the original black one too. However, #1, DS is a big kid and #2, he is no longer fond of facing inward. At > 20 lbs, you can't use any front carrier. I got a Scootababy, which allows front, hip and back carry. Love it, SO EASY to put on and DS doesn't mind the hip carry at all. Scootababy is not as mainstream as the other carriers. If I could do it again, I probably wouldn't even get the Ergo and just stick with the Scootababy for all my carrying needs. Except for the Moby - but that's for a totally different purpose.

Thanks to Hwain and ering on this board, I got the rec for Quirkybaby (where I found the Scootababy). Would highly recommend.

Really? I'm still doing the front carry on the Ergo with DS...

Guess it depends on your comfort!
