I had a great interview but emailed later in the day for a job description. I have a pretty good idea of which is expected but like to be able to review it. And someone told me once to always ask for it.
The response came from the HR dept, not the interviewer, stating I should have received it when I filled out the online app and can log into my acct to pull it.
I was asked a few "can you..." when applying but there was no description. I just logged in and there is nothing, not even a menu. Just a "thank you and we will contact you" page. It is not a publicly posted position either.
So I did a screen shot and replied I didn't see it, etc. I feel like a total PIA. I can't not ask for it now because they will prob ask me if I reviewed it in our next already scheduled interview. Please tell me I didn't screw this up by asking for the job description.
Re: PIA already?
I think it might be a little less in your favor to not have a clear idea of the job description before the interview.
However, I think you might be able to turn it around. Generally (from what I've experienced) the secondary interview is to show you off to the hire ups and see if you're a good fit. I think it would help you to learn as much about the company as possible. If they have any charitable works or accomplishments within the company that they are incredibly proud of, and bring up how you felt it was amazing of them to do this, or you thought it was incredibly innovative to have thought up this business strategy. Make it clear that you HAVE done your homework on the work they do and the job despite not being prepared with the information prior.
Best of luck to you on your job interview!
