Truly disgusted-Football related

So along with the Penn State scandal, my alma marter is going through some serious crap as well. There have been accusations of gang rape and it's turned into a HUGE deal (as well is SHOULD) and we are also being investigated by the NCAA. There is also another accusation that our quarterback raped a girl, and while no charges have been filed, it still lurks there.

I'm on another message board for my team, I mostly lurk, it's mostly guys that are on there. But I am TRULY disgusted about how many guys think that a girl call rape if she gets pissed off.

I was MORE disgusted by this post.

"Maybe I am missing something but has her name came out yet? If she is going to pull off an ultimatum like that then why don't all you geniuses here on (website) vow to run her out of town? Why aren't we putting the fear in her as she is to JJ.

Personally I think she is a bimbo with her head screwed on backwards. I have seen how these jersey chasers flaunt there young assets. then try to get there way or I will tell and I can ruin your life. Well bad decisions were made on both parties but she should get the same as she is dishing out.

shoot I could go on for hours on this someone please tell me her name. I would like to see some info on her.

where she grew up?

who her parents are?

what do they do for a living?

where she lives ?

who her friends are?

what classes she is attending?

what is her major?

does she have a criminal record

She should wake every morning as uncomfortable as JJ does. when she goes to the donut shop people should look at her and wonder the same things about her as they do about JJ."

WTF? Do guys ACTUALLY think that if you get a girl pissed off she's going to go to the police and be all "he RAPED me"? Is this something that most college boys should be worried about? This seems CRAZY to me.

I'm going to hide KR in a bubble.

Thoughts? Questions? Comments?

  • I hate that some men think that the majority of women are "calling rape" just to get back at a man.

Regardless of whether her name is made public, which if she presses charges I'm assuming it would be, that woman is going to have to go through a lot of crap to come forward.  It's not easy on her to do it.

I honestly don't even know what to say because I think that is ridiculous and makes me so angry.

  • I honestly don't get it. Even the guys I work with are all "You have to be careful because if you have sex with a girl while she's drunk, she could go back and be all "RAPE""

I totally side-eyed them. If that's your way of thinking, maybe you shouldn't have sex with drunk girls regardless.

  • That is totally disgusting!  I think I want baby Jonathan in a bubble too!

  • Maggie is going in the convent - just sayin. Those guys sounds disgusting.

  • Knowing nothing about the case, obviously the majority of girls would never cry "rape" if it wasn't true. However, my freshman year of college one of the girls in my dorm did accuse someone of rape and it ended up never having happened. Yes, this is rare but it does happen. The Duke lacrosse scandal comes to mind.

As far as the guys trying to figure out who the girl is and all the background info on her...sketchy as anything. That's really creepy and I worry for that girl's safety. I think once they move forward with formal charges her name will end up being released too, which is terrible.

Ditto. This is exactly why victims fear reporting sometimes!

I can't believe someone posted that. People are so ignorant. Rather than hiding your boys away, raise them to know that that kind of a thought process is beyond antiquated and scornful!

  • Honestly (and I may get roasted) for this... I think a lit of people are just WAT too sports or team obsessed. I was with someone for four years whi idolized a team and obsessed over sports... It ran our life. I kidded myself into thinking I was the "cool" girl for supporting it but man it was obsessive. I just think that when it overtakes relationships, morals, values and human decency/common knowledge we have to start questioning. Those posts sound like its from some possessed evil, not any kind of human with a heart but I also know that this team obsession overtakes some people's common sense... Weird. This makes me sad and honestly glad that sports are no longer much of any kind of a part in my life.
  • I agree, crystal. Idolizing athletes and coaches is something I don't get. They are people, they make decisions and need to face the consequences.

As for those posters-they need a serious wake up call as to basic human rights. Wtf is wrong with people that making a victim shameful is okay?

The bumpie formerly known as indomesticbliss.....
  • The comments that poster made worry me more than the actual topic. It doens't surprise me that some men think this way. I've heard it over and over and over again each time something like this happens. It's sad that they believe that but it doens't surprise me (which is also sad).

What truley worried me was how that person talked about wanting to find this girl. Not only is it unbelievably creepy, but if this girl was in fact raped how dare he try to harrase and embarase and make her life hell? Is he a regualr poster on your board? The more I think about it the more I hope hes a reporter for a newpaper or something and just trying to find out information. Not that that's ok either, but it's less threatening sounding than some random man that wants to find the girl for his own personal vendeta.

  • I totally know there are a lot ofpeople who put sports and idolatry to ones team abive people (I was married to one) and while this is extreme... The utter OBSESSION over a sport... Every fact about a key player, every little minute detail consumes them to a point where its like in a situation like this, someone is threatening your family. Its warped to live a group of strangers under a banner like that... To idolize them. Scary

    I know, right?

Everyone else was like "WTF man! NOBODY ELSE FEELS THIS WAY!"

I don't really think it's bad to have sports in your life if it's something you really enjoy and not something that you were just pretending to like. J and I are huge sports fans-it's one of the many things we have in common. It's fun for us to play Fantasy Football together and it's fun to make junk food and hole up in the house and watch games together. I don't think we're obsessed we just like it. Do we love our teams? Yes. Would I defend them to any other fans? Of course...with good humor of course. (Unless you're a Chargers fan, then you're fair game to scrutiny ;) ) Do I get worked up when we screw up and go 2-14? ABSOLUTELY. I'd love to have a dinner date with Jim Irsay to tell him what I think he should do to change the team up. But I wouldn't say it "rules" our lives or that we're obsessive to the point where I'd be condoning crap like that.

Marvin Harrison had someone shot in Philly a few years back. I got rid of my Harrison jersey. I don't want to be associated as being a fan of his after than nor do I want him associated with our club anymore. Will he be? Well yeah of course. He was never convicted...much like several other players in the NFL. But as a person who cares about other humans, I don't feel right supporting him by wearing his jersey. Not that he gives two shiits what a 4'11" Indiana girl thinks but I feel better.

Haha... Kari you always crack me up. No liking sports and being a fan is awesome and I used to GENUINELY and really like sports esp football and soccer.  I enjoyed it and played fantasy football but didnt realize how much it ruled ex-h's life. Theres a difference btwn enjoyment and obsession. The original post referred to the overly obsessive and I just think theres more people like that than we realize. The sad thing is even when we were happily together, i secretly knew he enjoyed and loved the Bears more than anything in life... Even me. Thats beyond healthy enjoyment. Hed let it ruin his whole day, week, even not be nice to me. I remember praying for them to win so hed be nice to me and have a good weekend. Hed scour msg boards and obsess over every little move, defending the Bears no matter what. I get enjoying a sport but to some it isnt a sport... It subconsciously is obsessive. I think now not having a partner into sports makes me feel less oppressed by it and now the sound of a football game gives me the chills. I cant watch it but thats my issue. Nothing at all wrong with sports... I want to be the whole soccer mom and all... But it I just cant be with someone who idolizes it and makes it first in their life.  Sad really bc I once genuinely enjoyed it. :/

  • I've come to the realization that there are some people who when it comes to sports..are, well asssholes. Quite frankly. The people who fight fans of the opposing team is ridiculous. The Super Bowl was in Indy last year and as luck would have it the team Colts fans hate made the Super Bowl. For YEARS Pats and Colts fans never got along at games. I remember being little and seeing fights at games. But ya know what, I never saw any one mouth off to a Pats fan and there were PLENTY of them there. All of them we spoke to were so nice to us and complimented our city, our stadium, and even our team.

People can love sports teams and still be adults about it. The ones that can't and the ones that can't separate sports from life and who straight up idolize players/coaches/teams/whatever to the point where nothing else matters and that love is put above every thing else..they are obviously lacking something in their lives.

And for the record...Chicago fans are die hard. Of course, you'd have to be...the Bears and Cubs have sucked for a long time now. They're used to losing....except in basketball. Wink Now would be a great time to end with..the Bears are my NFC pick for the Super Bowl this year. There I said it!

  • Amen sista... We used to watch with other die hard fans but J would get way more into it and angry over bad plays or bad calls. I was like, "jeesh... Do we have to let it ruin the whole weekend? It is just a game" his personality would totally change. In the end we had different priorities.

Again... I never want to rank below any sports again... But just hearing about the Bears gives me the chills. It was life consuming. I do miss the fun part, but not the obsession and idolatry. There is a line as you pointed out. I think it can be fun for a couple to share it like you and J do. :)

I totally cuss like a sailor during football games. I admit it. J and I get into it too. But it's all in fun. Though I would personally love to gut punch Ron Winters. Smile

And hell if I let bad plays ruin my day/life, I'd still be crying in a corner over last season. :)

    You are awesome :)

  • The guy who posted this sounds like an idiot. What is worse, walking around Knowing half the town thinks you are a rapist Or living the rest of your life with the knowledge that someone you trusted took advantage of you in the most disgusting way possible?

That said, I personally know girls who have cried rape when they got pissed off at a guy. A girl in high school swore in court that her boyfriend was raping her when they got caught having sex by her parents. He ended up going to jail and will forever be classified as a sex offender because a 16 year old girl didn't want to deal with the embarrassment of admitting to her parents that she was sexually active.

Then, my sophomore year of college, a sorority sister of mine claimed a guy in one of the fraternities on campus raped her after they had a one night stand and he didn't call her for a week. She was all giggles and sunshine about their "date" until she realized he didn't actually want to date her.

Bottom line, there are women out there who will manipulate situations and lie about serious situations like rape. This does not mean every woman who claims she was raped is lying or trying to get something more than the justice she is due. I think it is sick that people tend to automatically side with the accused party rather than the victim in these situations and are allowed to say "she was asking for it by dressing like a slut". A young man's sports career is not more important than a young woman's safety and dignity.

I have heard of that happening too. A girl I was friends with in high school was dating a guy for several years and cheated on him with his best friend...while I was in the room. Then she cried rape. Luckily the case was thrown out...he didn't rape her. I will claim that every day. He wanted sex. He got it...consensually got it from her. That's not rape, darlin, that's you being a cheating slut. Get it straight.
