DIY Wedding Album?

Is anyone else considering creating their own flush mount wedding album? If so, what company are you going to use and why?

Thank you for any advice!

Re: DIY Wedding Album?

  • I don't have all my photos yet so I haven't decided what I'm going to do, but I've heard good things about mixbook!

  • I have used Snapfish for years making photo books. Snapfish just started doing 11x14 layflat style.

So I'm going to make albums for the girls, the moms, and most likely the guys too (mostly for their wives) with Snapfish. I'll probably do an album that I can carry around and show people for myself with Snapfish too. I like the custom albums with the full pages.

I am still debating doing a really fancy album but that I'm undecided on.

  • I would love to do one, but I think we are going to wait.  Our package from our photographer comes with an album with lay flat pages.  We are going to get that first before we decide what to do.

I researched Picaboo and Zookie and was thinking about going with Zookie.  Don't really have a good reason why though.

  • we have a coupon for picaboo so will use that...most of the time I/My family uses shutterfly or mixbook.
  • I'm very lucky to have a super crafty mother who is designing my album in a program called Storybook Creator from Creative Memories. It's basically a digital scrapbook, so you can add different backgrounds, embellishments, etc. It's really awesome, and super user friendly - I used it to design my invites, programs and all paper products.

My mom swears by Costco for printing the books, and after seeing the one she did for my brother, I'd have to agree with her. Awesome quality for a great price. She also printed out a bunch of 5x7 and 8x10 pictures of my and H for the wedding (had a bunch of frames in the hallway) and they turned out great, so I plan on using Costco for our larger prints for the wedding pics I want to frame.

  • I made ours on Mixbook. I went this route because an album with all of the prints seemed a little boring to me and I like the scrapbook idea, but I don't have the time for old-fashioned scrapbooking. My family has used Mixbook for so many things and the quality is awesome!

  • I made one on Shutterfly.

We get a wedding album from the photographer, but I was only able to select a certain amount of pics, and a certain amount of pages for the book so I wanted something else that I could have as many pics and pages as I wanted. Plus, I got it a lot faster than the pro ones, which aren't coming in until the end of August.

It was easy to do on shutterfly. You can add different "stickers" to the pages and they have lots of wedding themed ones.

  • I have a BIG Mixbook one ready to go.. just waiting for a good coupon to come up! (Hint: If anyone has one or knows of a Groupon, let me know!)

I've used Sutterfly and Mixbook and can definitely see the quality difference between the two. Mixbook's picture printing quality is way clearer.

  • I just got done creating one on Shutterfly for my parents.  My sister swears by snapfish and has done a lot with them.  She has two small kids and gives these books away as gifts as well as other great things like frames, ties, aprons, etc etc etc.
