My grandma passed last evening. After much debate, we decided that the kiddo and I would fly up to buffalo for the services. We leave at 550am tomorrow.
If anyone recalls, I loathe flying. It terrifies me and is a huge source of anxiety. Normally, I just take NyQuil and drink a bunch of wine and try to forget that I'm in a giant metal death tube. Not exactly possible while toting a 2 year old and a carseat.
I'm really hoping everything goes smoothly, but it's extremely overwhelming. I already had a plane nughtmare last night. If I get through this week of four flights, I can probably do pretty much anything.
H can't go, so that's not a solution. I'm hoping that having to watch the kiddo will be distracting enough, but quite frankly, I'm terrified.
Re: One (hopefully) last vibes request
I'm sorry to hear about your grandma.
My SIL has flight anxiety, and it affects her daughter too. She can sense the anxiety. Do the best you can to hide it from your son, and that will help I am certain. I know that's strange advice, but it's the best I've got.
Good luck tomorrow!

Y'ALL.
We're on the plane.
It was a giant pain in the ass to bring the car seat but I'm so glad I did. The kiddo passed out during takeoff so I bought the inflight wifi to distract myself from giant metal tube of death thoughts.
On the downside, homeboy in the seat next to me is hungover as *** and I'm praying that I don't get hurled on.

I'm so sorry to hear about your grandmother.
I'm glad to hear that the flight went well for LO. I am so nervous to have to fly with DD, hopefully the flight home was just as easy.
That's good it went well for the kiddo. Good job on making it through the flight by staying strong. Hopefully Homeboy didn't cause you problems.
Thoughts and prayers with you during this stressful journey.
Sorry about your grandma
I fly pretty often and I usually just go right to sleep before the plane even takes off. If I have trouble sleeping, I usually just buy a cocktail and that usually knocks me out. Good thing your son went right to sleep. I feel bad for parents with cranky kids on flights - people keep shooting them dirty looks not understanding that no one wants the kids to clam down more than the parents.
Sorry to hear about your grandma.
When flying, I normally pray the entire time during takeoff until we even out and then again the entire time I'm landing. I'm not an incredibly religious person, but it works!
Good luck. I hope your anxiety is not so bad. Hopefully the LO will keep you occupied and keep your mind off of the flight.
So sorry about your grandma.
My sister had flight anxiety and got some prescription pills at the doctor's before they went to Europe. Apparently they worked well and she normally hates taking meds and had to jump off a flight to Hawaii!
