Beach vacation with a baby

We are leaving on Thursday for the beach. We will be there until Wednesday morning - we may be extending the trip to visit my family since we'll be on that side of PA...so I'm looking at being away from home for over a week.  I'm at a loss on what & how much stuff to pack for L.  Anyone have suggestions or personal experience?? TIA :-)

Re: Beach vacation with a baby

  • At that age you won't need too much in the way of toys. I would bring extra diapers and wipes. Average what you use in a day and then add another day to your trip. If you will have a washer/dryer available, don't go crazy with clothes for the baby. Bring enough to get you by.

  • I'm sorry I don't have any advice for you but I wanted to wish you a great trip! We can't wait to take our LO's to the beach. Can't wait to see pics! Smile

    I agree!

I packed way too many clothes for Mackenzie when we went to Palm Springs, but it's probably better to have lots than not enough especially if he is a spitter upper or a diaper exploder :)

  • Will you have a washer/dryer so you can wash his clothes if they get dirty. If that is the case you could take enough for 1/2 the week and then just wash so that you can take less along.

When I went to AB with Taylina the first time she was 2 months old and I took 7 outfits along, going on the assumption that there would be days she would make her clothes dirty and need a change. As far as diapers go if you have a rough idea of what you use in a day now I'd take at least enough for 2-3 more days along as well as extra wipes. Toys: we took her activity mat because she really enjoyed laying on there. My mom had a bouncy seat so we didn't take our's along. I'd say just take what you use the most and one item. The more you have to take the more of a hassle it becomes.

  • Thanks ladies!

No, we wont have w/d access while at the beach, but I can hand wash if necessary!

  • Since you don't have access to a washer and dryer then I would pack double the amount of clothes so like 14 outfits. Baby clothes don't take that much space. you could always just bring extra onsies for some days it its going to be hot. I usually pack clothes, bath stuff, a couple rattles, and thats about it I think. Then I buy diapers and wipes there. They cost the same no matter what target I go to so I save the space in the car.
