I need to write a book...seriously!

Hey ladies...so you will never believe my weekend crazy weekend.

As you know, we are in limbo with this house we have been in contract since April on. My in-laws , who we are currently staying with and did before the wedding, decided to move. Due to some issues etc., they went to short sale on their home, got a buyer and now we close August 17 and have to be out of the house. Kind of sucks because we are about a month away from closing on our own house. but now we have to find a place to go for a few weeks.

Originally, my inlaws planned to move to VA and live with their oldest daughter..sort of leaving us with no place to go until we closed. To rent or sublet would be stupid because we would need to sign a rental agreement. we are going to stay with his sister for 2 weeks (i dont mind because they have an awesome house and a jacuzzi LOL)

So long story short, my inlaws were not ready to move to VA yet..so a friend of the family offered to have them live in their fathers home (who recently passed away). The house is for sale but for now, they needed someone to stay there and maintain it. So my in-laws said okay..since they were not ready to move to VA yet anyway and hadnt found a new home down south. so this gives them time to really look.

Well we go to help my inlaws move in yesterday and there is another couple there saying they are renting the place from some guy named kevin. A heated argument insues and they call the police on my in-laws for  tresspassing. Police show up and now there is a realtor, some guy who says he is the deceased mans son, and the new renters, plus me, my Husband, and my inlaws there. The cops asked the guy who said he was the deceased mans son who he is, and he makes up some fake name...starts lying saying he paid us to move stuff out of the house so people can come rent (not true)...he had no ID, nor did it sound like he knew anything about the family or the man who lived there. Mr. D i will call him was a dear friend of my in-laws..his kids grew up with my H...and so my in-laws know them all very well and KNEW that was NOT his son.

so we call the 2 daughters (who own the house) and are the executers of the estate and they said they dont know who that kid is (by the name he gave)...so we describe him...and it turns out he was one of the girls ex bfs..who stole her mail which had the deed to the house in it, put an add up on craigs list...broke in to the house, changed the locks, got a renter and real estate place via craigslist and a rental agreement drafted and was trying to rent someone elses house out to make money because apparently he has a huge drug problem or something.  So they go to arrest the kid....but they had to let him go because we couldnt charge him with tresspassing and breaking and entering since we are not the owners...but it looks like once the daughters sign paperwork hes being arrested tomorrow or wednesday and is being charged with a laundry list of things. I have never seen cops arrest someone in front of me like that and have to let him go. But by law, its what had to happen.

I honestly never thought there was scum like that in the world..taking advantage of a dead man and his kids who lost their father and now tried to take the only thing they had left. its sad. since they live in CA and the house is here in NY he figured he would get away with this craigslist scam and make a few grand at other people expense.  crazy crazy crazy..... and the funny thing is...we live in a pretty good area that you never hear stuff like this happening.
