  Definitely get the hell out of there.  I'd stay in a cheap hotel during the apartment search.  If that isn't a feasible option, ramp up the search for starters, and be out of that house as much as possible... you and your husband can go out to dinner, see a movie, go to the park, LOOK AT APARTMENTS!!!  Just don't be home when these nuts are around.  Yikes. 

  How long have you been there?  Why is it taking so long to find a place?

  Run as fast as you can!!!! I don't know what's preventing you from leaving but leave as quickly as possible. How does your husband feel about the situation?

  You two really need to look a lot faster and you know what?  DO NOT be picky...ANYTHING is better for short term than that hell hole you are describing...you should be afraid of your mother-in-law!  Who knows what things she is capable of doing to you at this point.  Your husband needs to be a man, assert himself, get you out of there.  Go to a weekly hotel for a couple weeks while you find a place...stay with some friends, stay with a few friends til you get a place of your own.  GO!

  This sounds like dramatic BS. Wy didn't you get apartment when you got married?  I would be finding something ASAP and not looking back.

  It does not take more than a few days, at most, to get an apartment when you're living with dangerously crazy people.  WTF are you TTC in this situation?  wait until you're living on your own like adults
