Morning ladies! Happy hump day. How is everyone?
I'm beginning to go a tad stir crazy. The Olympics help, and I've watched more handball, table tennis and field hockey than I ever thought I would but I'm going to climb the walls in a minute.
I'm looking for gigs all over the place but even the temp places are turning me down because they think I'll abandon the assignment if something in the legal field opens up. My mom says I should do two versions of my resume, and not put my law degree on there. I'm torn. On one hand, I worked too damn hard to get that degree, but- I need a job dangit!
Cool story G.
Re: Wednesday Randoms
BNG - good luck on the job searches.
I have transportation now - yeah!
B&G- how do you feel about doing HR? I may have a very very (very) small, lead on something. I know a place that's getting rid of their current HR person. It might not pay super great, and your boss might be a giant jerk at times, but I might be able to put in a good word when the word is out that the company is looking. Right now it's very hush-hush.
Hey TW. Thanks! I wouldn't mind doing HR. Keep me posted. Thank you very much!
Charity- glad you got your ride back.
No prob. It would be office manager/HR type thing. Like I said the owner can be kind of a tool, but as long as you can roll with things, you should be good. LOL.
Whine Warning!
I got passed up for a promotion at work (that I never even knew existed, so I couldn't even express interest in it!).
I'm really bummed about it. I feel like it should have been me. There was a pow wow meeting about it, pretty much to tell me that someone else was getting promoted. It was rather awkward. They were all "Well we're offering the job to Jane, she's expressed interest in it and when she graduates college, it'll be a better fit we think. We think you do really great in your position, so you're going to keep doing what you're doing because what you do is awesome!". *eyeroll* The job was offered to someone else too, but they turned it down before they decided to offer it to "Jane".
I've been kind of unhappy with my job for a little while. I pretend at work though that everyday is the greatest and grin and grit my teeth because I've kind of felt like I'm spinning my wheels. I just....I don't know. I feel like I missed an opprotunity that I'll never get again here. I'm considering looking for something else at this point.
Ha. As long as I know what I'm dealing with going in, it should make it that much easier to deal.
Meanwhile- this Pintrest thing. Is it good? How do I get in on it?
I honestly don't understand the hype of Pinterest. Every time I've tried to look up "inspiration" pictures, it's the same 10 pictures over and over. I get better results with Google to be honest.
I can send you an invite if you would like. It can be useful for planing things, pulling ideas together. Just PM me your address.
Here is what I have on Pinterest.

Good morning ladies!
Good luck on the job search, I'm in a similar boat! Hopefully you will find something soon!
Wop- Sorry to hear that.
It sucks that you weren't even made aware of the promotion.... it might not make a difference but I think you should speak up about the fact that you were left in the dark about it and would have been interested.
When I first got on Pinterest I didn't understand it, so I wasn't really impressed. But once I figured it out, I was addicted. I LOVE it.. I've gotten so many awesome recipes, weight-loss blogs, and cleaning ideas from there. Let me know if you want an invite, you can just PM me your email and I can send one out!
That sucks. So there were nice enough to let you know that Jane was getting promoted but not nice enough to inform you that a position was available. I remember that feeling. Once I knew that I wasn't being looked at for promotion my energy for my job was pretty much shot. I had a friend at the same workplace get told that she would never be promoted because she was to good at the job she currently held. I would start looking too.
Um, really so what. Their whole job revolves around the fact that they fill a company's needs because someone has left.
I have pretty much no interest in doing anything today.
BnG: I've been watching the Olympics as well. It is basically the only time sports are watched in this house.
Charity: Yay for a returned working vehicle.
I think the reason they had the meeting yesterday was to gauge my reaction to it. I'm sure they thought I wouldn't take it well. They kept saying "we wanted to give you an opprotunity to ask questions about the changes." Even though they didn't have any answers to the questions I asked which was annoying. I didn't ask why I wasn't considered because it's probably because I don't have a "college degree", which "Jane" will have soon and they said that's the reason she's a "better fit". I didn't go to college, and I don't regret it for many reasons, but it just sucks that my work experience isn't worth anything here. They even said that Jane will probably even come to me with questions about the work. Um...what? The whole thing just kind of sucks for me. It's better than getting fired though! Haha.
Yeah, it really does suck.
I haven't created a resume in years. I don't even know where to start. Yikes.
Let me know if you need some help because I just updated mine within the last year.
