My stupid job hunt mistake

I got married and changed my name right after I was laid off.  I had 2 versions of my resume, one with each name depending on when I applied for things. I went to an interview on Monday and the intrviewer pointed out that on the top of my resume it said Suzy Marriedname and on the top of page 2 (the references) it said Suzy Maidenname. Pretty sure I'm not getting that job, or the 12 othrs I applied to with that resume. Trying to laugh it off now. Anyone else have similer stories?

Re: My stupid job hunt mistake

  • In my cover letter I stated the wrong company.  I would taylor my CL for each position I applied for but it was pretty much the same and I obviously didn't catch that I was refering to another company I had applied with.  I actually got the job.  In hind site it should have been a warning about what type of company I would be working for that would hire someone who made an error like that.
  • It was just a name change mistake...you should have laughed it off with them. It shouldn't be a reason for not getting a position.  Honest mistake!
