Maid of Honor Speech...

I'm the maid of honor (well I guess maiden of honor!) in my best friend's wedding this weekend and I have been having some trouble putting a speech together. I have an idea of what I want to say but feel like I need something a little bit more.

What's something that your maid of honors said that you remember being really throughtful or funny? Or something that really made her speech awesome?

My BM ended her speech by saying "And now, Teep's husband's name, put your hand on top of Teep's. Remember this moment, this is the last time you'll ever have the upper hand (pause for laughs, raised her glass" Cheers to Mr. & Mrs!" It went over really well with our crowd.
  • That's a cute way to end the speech...I might have to use that! I was thinking of giving them my expert advice of being a newlywed because it's been 2 months in haha then do some silly things then serious things and I could end with that.  Thanks!

  • My MOH and I are both third grade teachers so she said since she wasn't quite qualified to give marriage advice (after being married not even a year) she asked the experts, her 3rd graders.  She read they marriage advice they gave and added her own commentary in it and it was really funny.  It fit perfectly for us.

  • She talked a lot about our friendship over the years. It was really fun to hear her version of our memories.

That is such a cute idea!  I wish that worked for us - I bet it was super funny to hear what 3rd graders thought of marriage.

  • Mine talked about how we grew up together and all the things we did back in the day. Then said she knew we'd stay BFF forever since she's never met anyone more judgemental than I am. It was perfect.

You're the Matron of Honor ;)

My Maid of Honor gave a speech about how having/loving a husband is a lot like raising a dog (because we have a dog).  Which sounds terrible but it was actually really cute.  I'm sure she found it online somewhere.

  • My MOH (little Sister) ended the speech with " She took care of me for my entire life, now it is your turn to take care of her. And remember I will be watching and you know what happens when I'm mad and up past my bed time"

(if was funny cause when she was little, if she was up for too long....she acted horrible)

  • Thanks so much for your help everyone! :-)

  • You got some awesome tips already.. my maid of honor poked a little fun at me, just silly, about some of the goofy things I'd done when I was younger and how our relationship formed and grew over the years.  It was sweet.
