So sad

I have to share this with you girls because it simply broke my heart.

Our local paper ran an article today about this beautiful chocolate lab named Dusty (well that's what they decided to call her anyway).  This family last weekend was 4-wheeling and they found this dog lying in the brush not moving.  They go to her and discover that she has been shot.  She has gun shots to both her ears, her neck and her body.  I literally was sitting here reading this story almost in tears, trying to hold back only because I'm at work and my co-workers would give me such grieve over it.  She is alive and just the sweetest dog apparently.  They think she is an older dog because she is just so mild mannered and good natured.  Uggh...

Who is the world does this to a dog?  It just makes me sick to my stomach.  Shoot a dog and just leave her in the woods to die?  I am so sad for her.  I want to go home and tell H that we need to adopt her, only problem is I already have two labs.  Sure, let's just add a third one.

Re: So sad

  • I'm with you. Stories like that totally break my heart. My FIL has always said when it's time for his dog to go he'll take him hunting one last time. And I mean okay fine, If you know what you're doing. But multiple wounds and the poor thing was still living and thento just leave her there??? Soooo not okay :( I hope she finds a nice family who will give her the love she deserves...

  • That is incredibly sad!! The worst part of my job is dealing with the animal abuse cases :( I hope 'Dusty' gets to live the rest of her dogs days in a happy, loving home!

  • I hear both sides...if it was an older dog, perhaps it had other issues and they wanted to get rid of it without paying hundreds of dollars to take it to get put down....

but if that was the case you would think they would at least have the heart to make sure it was dead before they left it to just suffer.

  • That is so sad, I am glad she will be okay!!

  • People are sick. Crimes against animals should be punished just as severely as if they were against humans. If you can do this to a dog, you're obviously a violent and dangerous person.

You're so sweet for thinking about adopting her!
