I have my fertility specialist appointment today. I will hopefully get some answers reagrding the diagnosis of PCOS and what to do about this fibriod. Wish me luck. I'm nervous.

  • The doctor was super nice and made me feel very comfortable. He confirmed that I do have PCOS because of the hormone imbalance (my LH number is too high) and also because of the multiple follicules on my ovaries. He did an ultrasound and showed me the follicules. Also, he showed me the fibriod. He said that he is going to leave it alone because he doesn't think it is pressing on my linning, therefore it is not causing the bleeding. He thinks my hormone levels and PCOS is causing the excessive bledding. He also thinks that I didn't ovulate in May, June, or July. He prescribed progesteron and he wants me to take it for 10 days. Then he thinks my period (a real one) will start and when I'm done with that I will get an HSG, which is a test to see if my fallopian tubes are open and clear. Also he wants my DH to get a SA (semen anaylsis). I'm not sure how I feel about all this. I guess I'm sad that I have PCOS and that I'm not ovulating but I'm also happy that the doctor seems very optomostic that he can solve this. Oh and I'm going to start Clomid if needed.

  • WOW! That is a lot to take in, but he seems to be great to work with.  When I read the PG board, they all seem to do those things but at different stages.  I like that this guy doesn't have you waiting around!  Hopefully he can get everything under control and soon, you will have a beautiful baby!
  • I'm so happy that you finally have results and answers even if they weren't exactly what we were all hoping for!  But don't lose hope.  I'm a twin because my mom was on Clomid.  Big Smile  And I've got a brother too!  My mom had PCOS and while she did have to see a specialist, she had three great kids.  T&Ps that the progesterone works for you and that the Clomid does too.  Huge Hugs!! We are always here for you.

  • Thanks Jen and Michelle. I do not have a fear that I won't be able to have kids. I know that I will, I just think it will take longer. I am very happy this doctor is agressive and he doesn't seem to want to wait too long to see results.

Michelle, you're a twin?! How come you never talk about your twin? Are you two close? I'm assuming she's a sister since you said you have a brother too.

  • This is all great news Tara! I'm so happy that you have a doctor who seems to be on top of things and doesnt want to wait around to see what hapens. Just make sure to ask your doctor if you will be monitored while on Clomid, from what I've read from the gp board it is super important that its monitored because its a drug that can cause your body to get out of control if not watched.

Just make sure to take some time to absorb all the doctor told you today, I'm sure its feeling pretty overwhelming.

  • I'm so glad your doctor seems to be on top of things. I agree with Amity. Make sure you're monitored if you go on Clomid. Hormones can get out of whack so easily, so you want to make sure you're not over- or under-responding to the medication.
  • I don't think there is anything new I can add... but I am glad you like your doctor and that he is ready to start you on the path to baby making!

  • My sister and I are fraternal twins.  We are pretty close.  We've had some crazy twin moments before.  I'll pick up my phone to call her, dial her number and it never rings, she just answers because she was calling me at the exact same time.  That's happened more than once.
