Donsgirl & peeps who cruised with babies
We are going on a cruise in December and then again in Januray 2014. I have a Maclaren umbrella stroller that I do love but sometimes is a pita to close. I have intentions on bringing it with us on both cruises unless you can recommend something that you absolutely love. Also, I've read all over on cruise critic that people bring an inflatable bathtub for their babies to splash around in if they are too young for the pool (As well as using to bathe the wee one if showers aren't their thing). Did you do this or see anyone who did? In the 6 cruises I have been on, I have never seen this. Thanks sooo much for any input

I havent been on a cruise with a baby yet but we are going in Oct.I have been on a few before and have never seen a baby bathtub used as a pool,i do plan on bringing one for bath time though.

I'm glad you posted this since have a question re cruising with a baby.
We have had a family cruise planned for August '13 since January and now we will be adding Sophie to mix. She should be about 9-10 months on the cruise. We are going on Norwegian, which I've never been on, because of an all-inclusive drink package (yeah I'm sure I'll get good use out of that with an infant lol).
We had booked an inside cabin prior to finding out I was pregnant, but now I'm thinking we might need to upgrade to a balcony. I have no idea how we'd fit all the baby gear, like a pack n' play and a stroller, in an inside room. I've read some serious horror stories about the pack n' play in staterooms (even not fitting in balcony rooms!!!) What do you think? I'm also worried about her somehow getting out there- although I doubt she'll be walking by then.
Also, what were your kids eating at that age? Still only purees or were they on small bits of regular food and formula/breastmilk? Just wondering if I'm going to need to lug a ton of baby food too.
Also, keep the tips coming:) I heard the same thing about the bathtub since some lines are more strict than others when it comes to swim diapers and you can use it on deck too. I've never seen it, but I think it's a good idea just in case and for baths no matter what.
We have a cruise booked this Oct when Eli will be 8 months,we booked a balcony and i am thinking it will be ok since he wont really be walking yet,you should be fine as long as someone is always watching her when she is outside(which i know she will be watched at all times).I was also wondering about the food since i was planning on buying Gerber and packing a suit case with just baby food in it. ( we usually make our own but it would be impossible to bring it without it going bad) but i was wondering how i would be able to heat it up bc i dont think there is a microwave and also how would i sanitize his bottles?
We took Kingston on Carnival- 7 night cruise @ almost 10 months. We didn't bring the plastic pool- he just showered with us or used the sink. He was able to play in the kid's area during specified times for two year olds and under (with their parents). Whenever we went it was only K and one other baby there which was cool.
We bought a stroller similar to donsgirl's at BRU http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=12319180 (it was on sale) and we use it all the time now. Lightweight, large basket, the plastic thingy for his snacks, the plastic thingy near adults for water bottle.
We stayed in a balcony room and originally had the cruiseline bring a pack-n-play but to provide more space we asked them to remove it after the first day and K just slept with us. It wouldn't have been horrible though, if we kept it.
I was still BF-ing K at the time so formula wasn't an issue. However, one large container of formula would've lasted us during the whole trip. He also ate (real food) whenever we ate. At dinner, we'd request sweet potatoes or other side dishes for him, but the portions were so big that we ended up just sharing with him.
I have to say I was pleasantly surprised with the royal treatment K got. There are so few babies onboard and he was so spoiled. The cruiseline went above and beyond to please us. Have fun and report back to us!
ETA- Oh, for sanitizing , I would just use drop ins- no microwave or heating appliances in room
Thanks for the info esp with the food,now i know i dont have to pack a million things for him,for the bottles we use the drop in liners but i am concerned about the nipples.

I've never been on a cruise but i know a friend that did and she shipped food and diapers.
Also, unless he likes his baby food heated up, i think room temp would be fine (I've never heated up M's food)
