I reviewed my vendors on weddingwire.com about a month after the wedding and I just checked back to see if I had any more reviews to do....well I saw the old reviews I made and there was a comment on the one I wrote for the woman who "designed" my invitations.
Overall I as disappointed in the invitations. The cost was crazy for what I actually got (I also had to put them together myself unless I wanted to pay an additional $200) so I ended up with ok invitations, but ones that I could have easily done myself. I also had to take out a lot of the extras (table #s, bar signs, etc) and do them myself since the cost was so much for her to do them.
Should I try and reach out to this woman? Leave it alone? Can I re-comment on the original review (I can't seem to figure out how to do this) She mentioned that I should have contacted her about this, so was I wrong to just write the review?
Here's the review I made and her comments if you want to see them (I'm the one who gave her a 1.8) http://www.weddingwire.com/reviews/beecustom-design-boston/23c1edd379e7b467.html

Re: Vendor review-she commented on it
I think your review was honest, and its none of her business to comment on it...because what good are reviews if they only say good things and no one brings up concerns. Also I think 4.40 an invite is rediculous...we bought a micheals kit and they end up being less then 1$ each, and if your sending over 100$ invites....seems like 4.40 an invite is highway robbery to me. I think its good you did an honest review, and the whole point of internet reviews is to review how you ACTUALLY feel so that OTHERS using the site can get a balanced and realistic idea of what they are getting before using a certain vendor...they are NOT intended (even though many vendors us them as) to be ego boosts or free advertising for vendors.
I wouldnt re-comment, and honestly, i think her comment makes her look bad, as if I was looking for vendors and saw that a vendor is telling everyone who doesnt give her a perfect review that they are wrong, it would make me NOT want to pay for thier services.

Thanks ladies. I honestly didn't want to spend that much on invites, but after our first design meeting, I felt trapped. She was emailing me things to review etc. and so I just went with it, although at that point I had to cut out a LOT of "extras" to get it to be a price that I thought we could afford.
These invites were my #1 regret of our wedding and it was mostly because of how little I spent to make all of the signs, table #s and how easy it all was to do. I know for a fact I could have printed the same exact invites myself for easily half the cost.
I saw all the other reviews before I reviewed her and I was shocked to see how many people loved her when I felt the exact opposite....I won't re-comment or contact her at all. I just felt super angry when I first saw the comment from her!

i agree with this, if i were her i'd want to defend my business and would wonder why the first time i found out my client was unhappy was in a public review.
on the other hand, you wrote an honest review. if i were you i wouldn't change it or re-review, i would just let it go (i know.. easier said than done)

Pretty much as soon as she was given the final payment (delivered by my Dad who lives about 5 miles away from her) she never spoke/emailed to me again. I had voiced some concernes to her while the process was going on, but everything I asked she told me "well thats going to cost extra" and by the end of it, it was obvious that I was not thrilled with what was going on.
Honestly, I figured since I didn't put my entire name or any details about the invitation that she wouldn't know exactly who I was. I didn't feel comfortable telling her directly that I was unhappy.....

oh, i see.. i wasn't aware you had expressed any concern to her previously
that sucks.
she was probably anticipating a negative review from you because she seemed to jump right on it and knew exactly who you were by just the 'C' user name you posted. which, i think means she probably knew she didn't do a stellar job. she's probably not used to working with brides that have an actual real life budget, instead of those girls that can drop $texas on some custom invites without blinking an eye.
fwiw, i'm glad you posted an honest real life review

Maybe this says something about the vendors in my area, but its fairly common that the vendors respond if the view is negative. For my baker, they actually responded to a couple of good ones b/c they remembered working with the customer and wanted to thank them.
That being said - I don't think you did anything wrong. Reviews help brides know what to really expect. For that reason, I still need to write one for my reception hall; they were a big disappointment.
