Date Night - what's your go to

DO you have your "thing", the one thing ya'll to do together? Normally John and I would go out to a nice restaurant but that's off my list right now. What's something else we could do on a Saturday night?

Re: Date Night - what's your go to

  • We usually go out to dinner - that's not much help for you, though!

Movies?  Dave & Buster's type of place?

Sometimes, we'll do a "date day" and go for a hike, shopping, or a museum.  We don't have kids yet so obviously this is something that is easier for us to do on a whim.

We decided a few weeks ago to make it a point to have a date night once a week until the kid is born.  So far, we went outlet shopping and to Movie Tavern to see the new Batman flick.  Last week, we broke out Scrabble when we briefly lost power during a storm.  DH asked if this counted as date night, ha.

Ummmm, yeah, we've got that. Wink

And him being in Ohio is putting a real damper on it!

  • You could act like kids and go to Arnold's and/or ice skating. Limerick Bowl is fairly modern and fun.
  • Sometimes it's nice just staying in.  I'll go all out and make a fancy dinner, cocktails and get festive with the table settings.  The same can even be applied to staying in and renting a movie.  Make some appetizers, dim the lights, and put on some candles.  Anything to make it not feel like a regular night.

I also enjoy dinner and a movie.  We've been on a Sang Kee kick lately - we grab dinner there from their discounted Happy Hour menu, and then catch a 7/7:30pm movie.

The Mudroom in Ardmore is fun.  It's a BYOB pottery studio....not sure how good your painting skills will be after a bottle of wine though.

Viking Cooking School in Bryn Mawr has date night classes on Saturday nights that are a lot of fun.  They are usually 3 hours long, and the class finishes with a dinner at the end.

    I also like bowling.

  • These are great. I love the idea of a cooking class. I don't know if DH will. I also don't think I'm going to paint pottery with him since he is an artist by trade. That's a little intimidating.
