more than the required amt of letters??

Hi,

I just recently got married and now I'm in search of a new job.  I haven't posted on here yet, but I do have a question about recommendation letters.  Is it bad to submit more than the required number of recommendation letters? Thanks for your advice.

Re: more than the required amt of letters??

  • Having done recruiting and hiring at an organization myself, I can say from experience that many employers often do not read all and certainly not more than the required or recommended amount of rec' letters. Especially when there are 25+, 50+ or hundreds of people applying for a single position. Your best bet is to decided which individuals will write you the best possible recommendation and stick with the amount the organization has set.
  • I completely agree with the above. You're being asked for a number of letters for a reason. If someone can't figure out whether you're a good employee from the first three letters, they're not going to bother reading the fourth in order to make a decision.
