Liquid/gel carry-on question

Is lotion considered a liquid/gel?  I'm not planning to check any bags, and my face moisturizer is in a 4oz container.

Re: Liquid/gel carry-on question

  • Yes it is a liquid. As well as deodorant and tooth paste.

  • yes and even peanut is considered a gel.
  • Thank you! Never would have guessed the deodorant. I usually just check my toiletries so I don't have to worry about it, but I'm only going to be gone a couple of days, so it seems ridiculous to pay $25 to check a bag.

  • yes it's a liquid. 3.4oz or less only. unless you're going away for 5 months you wont need 4 ozs anyway:) buy a small container.

I knew it was which is why mine was travel size. Dh on the other hand refused to listen to me and insisted that his normal size would be fine. Guess who had to go buy deod at the resort?

  • Mascara may also be considered liquid! Hmm Found that out the hard way! (My travel companion was stopped and then had to go through the "whole nine yards" of security!)

Roll-on, gel, and spray deodorant are liquids.
Solid deodorant is not considered a liquid.

I actually switched from gel to solid shortly after the liquids ban, because I have no place to buy travel-sized deodorants, and a full-size takes up too much space in my liquids bag.

Yup. Unfortunately he will only use the gel.

I don't even bother doing carry on only anymore. We tried it once (for an 8 day trip) and it was to much of a hassle. We just do one big checked bag for the both of us (making sure to keep it under 50lbs), my back pack as carry on (with the essentials in case our luggage is lost) and his laptop bag.

yes it's a liquid-i've never heard of a solid mascara :) but surely it wasn't larger than the 3.4 ozs? that would be one HUGE mascara LOL

Hmmm, I didn't even think of that.  We were so shocked at the whole ordeal.  It took her almost 30 minutes to get through the checkpoint!
