I have a sad :( Need your opinions
One of my dear high school friends passed away Saturday morning.
She was 26. She just went to bed and never woke up. She was out the night before so she could have possibly taken something...autopsy report hasn't come back yet.
The heartbreaker? She had 2 little girls. 
I'm sending some money to help cover funeral costs. But I'd like to get the little girls something...any ideas?
They are around 3 and 5 (I think). I've never met them.
Any ideas?

Did your friend have any special hobbies/likes when you were in HS?
I think I'd try to send something personalized to that. Like, "I remember when we were in HS your Mom always used to love _______, so I wanted to send you this so you can love it too."
Or, lockets with their Mom's picture?

I like Kate's ideas. Another would be a letter or collection of letters with memories you have of their mom so them to read when they are older.
How sad. I'm so sorry.
Maybe stuffed animals? Perhaps you could do a build-a-bear type thing and dress the in cheer uniforms to the connection to their mom.
