Anyone have a combined family room/living room?
We have a big room in our house that runs the lenght of the house and is suppose to be the family roomand living room - 2 sperate areas. There is nothing dividing the areas. We have the family room decorated as it faces the kitchen, but I am so stuck on the living room, which also opens to the front door. I'd like to get a small arch made or something to divide the space...my husband doesn't want to ruin the "openness". I'd love to see picutes of spaces like this decorated to get ideas.

I'm right there with you! Wondering what to do with this "extra" room we think is supposed to be the dining room and opens into the kitchen with 3 entryways!??
Pictures people, please!?
I think the most common is to set it up as sort of 2 back to back living rooms kind of like this

or you could put a piano or somehting in the more formal area if you dont intend to use it for a living room but want something in the space when you walk in the front door.
