When you made the pioneer woman braised short ribs... what type of pot did you use? I don't have a dutch oven or anything similar.
Thanks!
Re: *bpphoto785*
Are any of your regular pots oven safe?
Otherwise you could probably use anything you have that's oven safe where the short ribs will be mostly submurged in the liquid and cover it really well with aluminum foil.
I used my dutch oven. I got it at Target, it wasn't very expensive and I LOVE it! If you want one sometimes they have them in the camping section. They're not as pretty but they're less expensive.
I didn't use a whisk to scrape the bottom of my dutch oven. I just used the wooden spoon I was already using and it worked just fine.
Also, if you heated your oven safe dish in the oven first, you could make the short ribs in something else on the stove and then transfer it into your oven safe dish. You might lose a little flavor, but it's what I used to do before I had oven safe pots.
Not that I'm trying to deter you from purchasing a dutch oven!
i have not tried this recipe...
however.... i would like to encourage you, if you can, to invest in a good dutch oven. you can make all kinds of awesome meals in it. my mom got me an enamel coated cast iron dutch oven from Sam's for Christmas last year, she got a killer deal on it (i think $40) and it has a lid. i LOVE it!

Ditto this! I'm convinced my spaghetti sauce tastes better when it comes out of the dutch over and not a regular pot.
