Taking Classes at CCP

I believe a few of you have done this before. I was considering the notion of going back to school for another degree.  I found out I need to take 8 prereqs before I can apply to the program.  Can I do this at CCP?  Is there a limit as to how many classes I can take total (not at once but overall)?  How does this work?  TIA!

Re: Taking Classes at CCP

  • I took nonmartriculated courses I just sent in a transcript proving I had a BA so I didn't have to test in anything. Not much help I know.

  • I took some pre-reqs plus some other classes at DCCC before transferring to St. Joe's to save some cash.  I was allowed to transfer a max of 75 credits. Once enrolled at St. Joe's, I would have had to receive special permission from the dean to take a class elsewhere.  I never bothered with that.

I'm glad I took as many classes as I did at DCCC, because I saved a boatload of money.

  • Thanks ladies!  When you are 17 and the first one in your family to go to college, no one explains to you or your parents that taking nonsense classes for two years at a community college will save you (and them) a lot of money.  Now I know for our future kids.

  • I actually just recently went back to school to pursue a 2nd degree and needed many prereqs because I went from Communications to Radiologic Science. Jefferson required many prereqs and I did all of them at Montgomery County CC. All the credits transfered over no problem and it saved me so much $$!

I know with Jefferson I was able to transfer many credits from my original undergrad plus the prereqs so I was able to do their one year AP program, I think they took 50 transfer credits but it may depend on the school/program. Usually community college credits transfer easily.

    Good luck!
