Decorating Help *PIP*

I need your ladies help! There is one wall in our bathroom that I cannot figure out what to do with. I don't want to clutter it with too much stuff but something needs to be done because it's quite a large, empty space (about 7 feet by 5 feet). The colors for our bathroom are tan, dark brown and turquoise. The inspiration comes from our shower curtain which is this:

Here is the space that I am refering too:

*and yes, I still need to paint the ceiling :)

I plan to make some curtains to hang from the bottom of the shelf to hide the electrical stuff underneath but I don't know what else to do with the space. I was thinking of hanging a large clock on the wall but thought that might be weird for a bathroom. My other idea was to do something like this:

And spell out 'Laundry' but I still think that might look odd.

The only other 'decorations' I have in the bathroom are two matching wall scones by the sinks, you can see them in this picture - the ones on the counter are now on the walls to the left and right of the sinks.

Anyways, I am open to any and all suggestions because I obviously have no idea what to do with the space. I don't want it to look too cluttered but something needs to go there. Thanks Ladies :)

  • I actually like you LAUNDRY idea. It would be cute. You can just paint wooden letters and hang those.

  • I agree do the laundry signs they look really cute. Or you can stencil a cute quote on the wall.
  • What if instead of spelling out laundry you do your monograms? The letters are really cute, but I think since Laundry is 7 letters, it could look a bit cluttered.  Your monogram would be 1-3 letters; less cluttered, but same idea.  Plus, "laundry" is H's and mine code word for sex, so I giggled to myself when you said you wanted to spell out laundry in big bold letters in the bathroom- but of course that word doesn't mean anything else to you other than "clean clothes" ;-)

  • What if instead of "laundry" you did a shorter word like "wash"? It would be appropriate since it's also a bathroom!

  • I also like the 'laundry' letters idea.  Another option would be a long rectangular frame with some artwork.

I like this idea alot.  Regular artwork like another pp mentioned would look nice also. PS. I'm JEALOUS of your mirror; we still have the ugly standard ones :(

LOL, we say making cupcakes as our code word!  This made me belly laugh out loud and hubby asked what was so funny  ;)

  • I think spelling out laundry would look really neat!

  • I like the laundry idea.....

If it was my space (and I had some money to spend on it) I would put some smallish/shallow cabinates up. I like having my laundry soap and stuff hidden and close by, so that would take up the space making it feel more done, and being practical at the same time.  Maybe something like the shelf/cabinate combo on the right side of the picture in the link.

Yes! I like the "Laundry" idea, but it looks like such a nice open space I'd definitely want to make it more functional by adding additional shelving or a cabinet. You can get cute baskets in the colors from your curtain for added storage, fill glass jars with clothespins/soaps, and even rest framed photos and the laundry lettering on the shelves for decoration.
