Fuelling the Baby Fever?

Hey ladies!

I've had a strange day today. I posted on the baby fever thread last week, saying I have insane baby fever. DH and I are currently TTA though, not ready for kids right now, but I still ooh and aah whenever I see babies or pregnant ladies. I have been feeling lousy since Friday and finally went to the clinic today... And the doctor made me take a pregnancy test! Freaked me right about because I'm on Nuvaring and it never crossed my mind. It turned out negative, but some part of me was a bit disappointed in some sad way.

Of course DH knew what was going on, and right after I saw the negative I called him, and he said "it would have been really crazy, but we could have handled it!" Cutest thing ever. Now I'm sadly peeking in to the office, wondering what it would look like with a crib in there. Darn PMS hormones making me sad!

  • I too took a pregnancy test recently and was disappointed that it was negative. While H and I aren't TTC just yet I can still dream. We will be waiting a few more months first but I can't help but want to clean the house and get it ready for baby stuff.
  • From time to time I will go on BabiesRUs and look at baby room decor, strollers and car seats, and envision what our office will look like as a baby room :) We aren't going to TTC for at least another year and a half...

  • As much as I'd love a baby right, I usually cure my baby fever by thinking of the "downsides" of having a baby. As in, H and I are solely responsible for another human being for at least the next 18 years. And there's no more deciding we want to go do something, like have dinner, and just being able to.

Once we don't see these things as terrifying and/or are willing to give up our social lives and carefree-ness, we'll go for it.

  • We were down visiting my SIL this weekend, and our niece is 15-16 months old.  She is pretty well behaved but still a HANDFUL!  I was so tired after chasing her around & playing her with.  Super cute, but definitely a reality of how much work it is to have kids.  Made me definitely think twice about having kids!

This is such a good point. DH's three siblings all have kids (6 under 6 total!) and they're a real handful. I just have to think about our freedom and quiet time being completely gone and it helps!!

  • Watch someone elses kids for 24hours or longer (maybe a whole weekend)....I promise. It will cure your babyfever.. and the parents will love you for giving them that long of a break since most parents only ever get a few hours away from the kids.

  • I sometimes go over to TheBump and look at what people are choosing for baby names.. whoops ;)

  • I've been coming up with really cool baby names lately :-) I'm afraid to say anything to H yet though because I know babies are not on his mind, but I'm keeping a little mental list of them.  I have this obsession with naming all my children from people in the Bible, so as I read, I get all kinds of fantastic ideas.  Example 1: girls name: Jerra, from Jeremiah (or I could go a step further and have the middle name Mia to make her name Jerra Mia).  Example 2: boys name: Braham, sounds like Graham, but comes from Abraham.  H will think all these names appeared out of nowhere when we finally get pregnant!

  • ME TOO! Hahaha glad I'm not the only one :$

My favourite girl name is Charlotte. Boys I haven't thought about much, DH likes Ashton. We've always loved the name Ryan but my SIL named our godson Ryan!
