Friends dynamics
How do you deal with the change of dynamics between friends. I have always made my own plans, but now that I am married how do you put someone (a friend or relative) on hold while you verify with your spouse that the plans you are about to make are ok?

You say "Oh, that sounds terrific! Let me check with H to make sure there isn't anything scheduled for that night that I have forgotten. I will call you (in ten minutes, tonight after work, before Friday) to let you know if I am a go!"
Simple. You are married and your friends know it, so double checking a shared calendar is expected.

"That sounds like fun. I'm not sure if John has plans for us. Let me check with him and I'll let you know later."
This exactly. H does this all the time. His friends call and ask him to do something and he always says "let me check with C and I'll call you back." H goes out more than me, but whenever I'm making plans I'm sure to let him know ahead of time in case he had something else planned for us.
