nyc restaurant help

My sister and I are having a girls day in NYC on Saturday.  We're getting our hairs done at Dry Bar and are looking for a lunch rec.  The Dry Bar location we're going to is smack in between the East and West Villages, near to Little Italy and Chelsea.  I know nothing of NYC so if anybody has any fun recs, they would be much appreciated.

Re: nyc restaurant help

  • cuisine, price, vibe, etc.....

  • I suppose that was pretty vague!  We're pretty open to cuisine and vibe, although I tend to be pickier but will try something if pushed :)  Price point I'd say moderate, approx $20pp entree.
  • You are so close to my old hangouts (I miss NYC so much). Union Square has so much good food.

Tortoria is really good, chill Mexican, but it's all fresh. https://plus.google.com/109742744079467467769/about?gl=us&hl=en

There is a great diner I think it's called Coffee Bar on the corner of Union Square W and 16th St.

Blue Water grill is higher end, but never disappoints.

Fatty Crab is supposed to be really great, DH's cousin is a chef and it was on her list of places to go to again before moving from NYC to Taiwan to open a restaurant last week. I think that speaks volumes. It's farther down, but a quick train ride.

  • I am piggy backing on this post because I am unsure where the area Jess is asking about but we head to NYC in a few weeks to see a show at Radio City, I know there are a ton of choices in that area. Looking for somewhere we can walk to from there, moderately priced nothing high end, no reservations needed, any cuisine except indian preferably not byob

  • Are you taking the kids? What time is the show? BYOB isn't an option in NYC.

  • Last time we were there we had dinner at Gramercy Tavern and it was excellent. There is a more formal dining area, and a casual area where it is first come, first serve which is where we ate. The atmosphere was fun, the food outstanding and it was very reasonably priced.
  • Sorry to have post and ran the other day.  But thank you for all of the recs!  I think we'll have a lot of fun finding some place to try.

    Kel - have fun!

  • Gramercy Tavern is awesome, but not really close to Radio City. In march we had a post show lunch at Gordon Ramsay's restaurant, Maze in the London hotel it was good. Of course Le Bernedian is close, but that's prix fixed and starts at $200 a person. Still one of the best meals of my life. Otherwise it's really all touristy stuff. Unless you want to travel a little way.
