So my DH informed his sister that with the travel costs, etc. we would like to give her and DH a joint gift and then buy something separate for my nephew (yay!). Now I need ideas of what you give to a couple. Gift certificate for dinner? And what should the amount be?
Re: Couples gift ideas
I think gift certificates for dinner or booze make some of the best gifts for adults. I mean, most anything I want these days is either clothing (obviously not a couples gift) or something ridiculously big ticket, like a new TV.
The amount just depends on the restaurant. $100 to Chili's is over the top, but $30 to a nice steakhouse says, "Here, have a salad on me." I'd try to cover at least two courses (app and entree) and one drink.
ditto - it encourages a "date night"
I like to give restaurant gift cards. I try to give enough to cover at least 2 entrees, a shared app, and a shared dessert. I figure that's the minimum for a "full meal." The specific amount depends on the restaurant.
Whats your budget per couple?
Nevermind I read it again.
