Interest rates- Your opinion
I know none of us can know for sure but what do you think will happen to interest rate through the end of the year.
Me- I think they will stay low until the election. After they may go up 1/8% or 1/4% through the end of the year. After that they may go up a little more but not much for a year or so.
You?
Re: Interest rates- Your opinion
It's true - no one can predict the rates! We thought by this point in the year they'd be hovering around 4% right now or above and yet here they are at record lows! And of course we locked our 30yr at 3.75 and the next day they dropped to 3.60! Same thing happened with my first home purchase 3 years ago, a rate drop the day after I locked! Murphy's!
As a REA, I saw a spike in action in our local market in March when rates ticked up to 4%. Houses were flying off the market wtih fear from buyers that they'd missed the boat. In addition, many of our clients who've bought in the last year have refinanced into 15 yr loans.
There is definately more buying power at the moment. House prices are down, yet I think we've hit the bottom. Interest rates are down. Added together means buying more house with less money.
