Box Tops

I'm going to confess...and please don't judge...that I have no idea what these box tops are for.  I know you give them to your school...but why?????  What does the school get?  I throw away hundreds of these a year (they don't expire for years and years)...and I'm wondering if I should start saving these for when P goes to kindergarten and then give them to the school?  Can you tell me about these elusive little squares?

Re: Box Tops

  • Our daycare participates.  The box tops help them earn money to buy things for the school/daycare.

    Here is the website:

  • I think they get 10 cents per box top.  Our school uses them to help support things like field trips and special programs for the kids.   Definitely save them - our school also has contests for whoever brings in the most boxtops!
  • My sister, a 4th grade teacher, collects them too for her classroom. I had been giving her ours for a while too. but I don't buy too many box top participating foods aside from gogurt, cereal and fruit snacks.
  • Thanks, ladies!  Yea, I'll have to be more aware of what foods carry these tops.  I know that we go through TONS of cereal in this house and that is the most likely place for us to stock up on those tops.  It sounds like a good program to get some money for schools.  Every little bit helps, I bet.
